Well for one, if you take it to a dealer, they are going to charge you more, but its going to be done right. If its just the CV, its probably about $75 for the part and a couple hours of labor. If its the whole axle, about $200 or so for the part and about an hour, hour and a half labor. So, yea, that sounds about right, but you have to figure out if its just the CV or if its the whole axle, and compare labor rates at a couple of different places. Hope this helps.

You can buy Orginal equipment parts, which are more expensive, or after market parts, or re manufactured parts. Call a local parts supplier like NAPA, Autozone, etc and check the prices of their replacement parts. Then call a few shops and get a quote on replacing the part with them supply the part, or you supply the part. Ask if they are using OE, Re manufactured or after market parts.
You can save a LOT of money by going to a reputable independent shop.

i have a 1994 nissan altima, some body style as the 97 and when i had mine replaced i think it was only like $140. don't get ripped off
