You loved your husband and wanted things to work out, but he is one of the MOST NEGATIVE people you have ever known sometimes. He just gripes to gripe I think.....

I would sit down with him and tell him how much you love him and tell him all the great qualities he has, but let him know that the griping and the negativity really upsets you to the point where it is really depressing to be around him. Ask him if he could maybe work on that...really think about what he is saying before he says it. Maybe even ask him if there is one thing that you do that drives him crazy and make him a deal that you'll work on that one thing as well...whoever does best owes the other dinner out...=)

Ya' know, there is a book out by a little Jewish lady, maybe you have heard of her---Dr. Laura.
Her book is called "Proper Care and Feeding of husbands."
This not intended as a smart a** answer, nor a sexist or chauvinistic response, but to help clarify.
The book does NOT fault women for problems in marriage. in fact its only point is to help women UNDERSTAND their husbands, and to help them to understand that it is the WOMAN in the relationship that has the POWER to change the dynamics.
Very good reading.

Get him to laugh more, get his mind off what he is griping about. Keep a positive atitude yourself, you's be surprised how contagious it is. Good Luck.

Pump him with positives.Find what he is negative about and tell him the bright side. Do it with understanding and a BIG smile. Then tell him you love him and we WILL get over it.

Maybe it was just not meant to be. Make yourself happy and everything else should fall into place, with or without him.
