I drive a 98 Dodge Stratus, and every once in a while the pedal is quite soft, or non-existant. Its been going on for a while. Every two weeks or so, the fluid is just gone. I have no idea where it has gone to. ts not a bad line, or cylinder because it is not leaking anywhere. What could it be? It has the 2.4 Liter, and doesn't have ABS. Hope someone has an answer for me.

Seabring specifically. I want to do it myself. Do I need a carpet needle and some heavy duty thread? Or is there a different way?

he doesn't have money to fix a hole in the exhaust of his '92 car. He lives in VA. They gave him 1 month temp. tags to get it done. Is it possible to get tags without fixing the damn thing? What if you have no money to replace an exhaust system?

Oh, remember, it doesn't puff out any smoke just has a hole in exhaust making the car slightly more loud, but it still failed emmissions.

Many thanks for everyones time

Does anyone know if this car has a cam belt and if so, at what mileage should it be replaced? Apparently the Diesel 1800CC model is a rare beast.

Also, the car has a really weird noise. At low revs, a faint noise can be heard - sounds like a old style telephone dialing at a slightly higher pitch. Also, if I hit the brakes, the brake pedal feels like it is snatched back, just as the car comes to a halt. The front discs were recently replaced.

Many thanks for any help given.

I love my car and don't want to get rid of it. But it has been a pain in the butt lately. I blew a headgasket four months ago, and me and my Dad re-built the engine. Then I two days ago, it busted the timing chain on the highway. So again, the engine's coming apart. It's a SC. So any advice would be helpful. (Don't bother if your just gonna say 'get rid of it'!!)

Is this common? Can the gear box be rebuilt (new seals etc.) or must it be replaced? Estimated cost? Any input is appreciated!

I have a 1999 Chevy Venture van. It runs great except for this squeaking noise. When you turn right it squeaks like a
tricycle with a rusted wheel.

I took it to my mech Wed. He said he took the entire uncarriage apart, checked bushings, sway bar, control arm, shocks, struts, tires, rotors, and even checked ball joints throughly. He said he checked everything he could possibly think of, he could find nothing and charged me nothing.

The squeaking is so aggravating that I always ride with the radio up fairly loud to drown out the noise. Last night I noticed that this squeaking 99% of the time only happens when I am turning *RIGHT* into a parking lot/4way/or any right turns--- and causing the van to rock from left to right. When I turn *LEFT* anywhere also causing the van to rock from left to right it doesn't do it.

I mean it is terrible. It sounds as if the van is just an old rusted piece of junk. Only recall - STEERING:GEAR BOX:SHAFT SECTOR #99V071000

Please help.

'04 Scion XA. The noise is somewhat high pitched and it's throughout the whole car, not just in the general area of the door, like a vibration problem.

I know a guy who just had a car accident, he was going across a street and got side swipe but because he had a stop sign, they called him at fault, with that, he has a running but busted up frount which he can't even open the hood and has one headlight. My question is simply this, he only has a couple of choices:

1.Try to take it to the body shop and get it driveable and safe.
2.Scape the car and buy some cheap car to just get him around.
3.Other.

I just bought the car recently from a friend and it won't pass the smog check. I know in CA, you can't legally sell a car that won't pass, but since I bought it from a friend I was planning on just getting it fixed. I just don't know what I'm looking at costwise or what the probable causes are. Anyone?

I am a female but was wondering what being an auto mechanic would be like. does the person have to go to school? I have heard that its not that physically demanding anymore because everything is hooked up to machines. how much physical stanima does the job take? it sounds like a lot of fun to be outside and fix something up. idk. do feel free to leave comments.
