A good jack. And a lug nut wrench. Loosen the lug nuts while the tire is on the ground. then jack up the car and remove the nuts and the wheel will come off. Install new wheel and screw on lug nuts by hand till they are as tight as you can get them by hand. Use your lug nut wrench to snug them up a little tighter. Then let the jack down and tighten lug nuts in a staggered fashion.tighten one, then tighten the one opposite of it,and so on. tighten them as much as you can by hand using the wrench. Don't stand on the wrench to try to get more umph. You could strip the nut or the stud . Or the lug wrench will slip off and could cause injury.
If your not sure of the tightness. Get them as tight as you can and drive to a service shop and get them to check. they usually won't charge you to tighten them up or check them.

I have a manual tire changer. It just hold the Tire on it's side and I use this bar to remove it from the rim. It also has a "Bead Breaker" just a lever and a shoe thing to break it loose from the rim. I bought mine at a local "Harbor Freight" for $40.
It $50 now; http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=34542

If it is on a car you should use a jack and a tire iron and, of course, the spare tire.
