Can anyone tell me the width of the wheels on a new 2008 F-250? Most oversized tires require a width of 8-10 inches. The standard wheel width in the past was only 7 inches which means I would have to buy wider wheels if I wanted to put oversized tires on a lifted truck. But recently the F-250s went from 16" diameter wheels to 17" diameter wheels so I thought they may have increased the width too? Any help is appreciated!

My 1999 Ford F-250 with the 7.3 Liter Powerstrong Diesel engine has ~150,000 miles on it and runs like a top. However, yesterday, out of no where, the little red auto battery light indicator popped on and will not go off. The powerstroke comes with dual batteries and a heavy duty alternator. I have replaced the batteries at least 2 times (maybe 3) over the life of the vehicle, but never the alternator. Have replaced the serpentine belt when I changed out the water pump. While I was driving it yesterday, the HVAC went from cold strong to a weak vent fan....THEN I noticed the battery light. Thinking my alternator was going out, I killed the HVAC and headed immediately for home to switch vehicles. Made it okay and expecting it not to crank back up when I killed it, but it did. HVAC also worked okay too...lights, etc. But that damn battery light is still on. Ideas? Alternator???? Anyone? Thanks!

My rearview mirror has come off my windshield on my '91 Mercury Cougar. I bought a glue kit to put it back on and it says to remove the "button" from the rearview mirror so that it can be glued back on separately. The "button" looks like it should slide out of the rearview mirror but it doesnt want to come out. Does it slide out? Am I just not using enough force? Please help. Thanks.

Ford's and Mercury cars and trucks has a blower motor resistor to control the heat/ac fan speed. When the resistor is burned out, the fan will only work in high or not at all. The part is easy to replace, it's on the passenger side next to the blower motor. I don't need help finding it in the car or help with replacing it, I need to find a online store where I can buy one (two actually, two Ford's with same problem). Every store I check sells blower motors, but not the resistor. Even Motorcraft's website doesn't show it. The winning answer will be a url to an online store where I can buy this part. I think Taurus uses the same resistor, so those of you with the Taurus water leak problem may know the answer.

i recently purchased this vehicle which looks brand new with only 82 k miles. I was pulling a car hauler with 3 buick roadmaster wagons in a parade. Just after completing the parade the front seal blew out spewing trasnmission fluid. I have since learned that this is a common problem with this transmission. I am considering installing a heavy duty transmission cooler with fan (which can be manually operated) and a in cab temperature guage. What other modifications to the transmission can you suggest to prevent this happening again? Since I will be using this primarily to transport vehicles in parade routes. I want to make sure it doesn't happen again. I am posting a picture of the truck and car hauler on to our web site (parade/events) any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.

The yellow engine light is on. It happened before and the mechanic reset it from somewhere near the fuse box. It looked like he maybe pushed a little button. I'm 99% sure that its from a loose gas cap.

I have a 1965 Ford Mustang, it's a 200, inline 6, automatic.
I'm the 3rd owner.
It's not perfect, has never been restored, but the body is fine. There's NO rust on the vehicle.
It was a Calif car (1st owner, 25+ years), then TX.
I bought the vehicle in FL from the 2nd owner in 1998 and drove it off & on over the past decade.
It runs but needs a tune-up, as the car has been garaged for the past 4 years straight and not driven at all in that time.

This car is my baby and my dream was to restore it and get a true automotive education from it. Dashing that dream is not something I am really prepared or happy about doing.
Life has made other plans, however, so I should probably sell this car.

I am not quite sure how to go about selling it, or what a fair price for the vehicle would be. Please respond with your suggestions as to how to get it appraised or figure out its market value.
Also, can anyone recommend a good website for selling this?

I paid $1500 for it in '98
