My rearview mirror has come off my windshield on my '91 Mercury Cougar. I bought a glue kit to put it back on and it says to remove the "button" from the rearview mirror so that it can be glued back on separately. The "button" looks like it should slide out of the rearview mirror but it doesnt want to come out. Does it slide out? Am I just not using enough force? Please help. Thanks.

Unless there's a set screw holding it on, it should just slide out although there's probably a spring clip underneath putting tension on the button....you may have to pry it out a little with a small screwdriver, just be careful and go slow as the mirror bracket metal is usually brittle white metal.

If there is not a set screw in it then it will have to be forced out , It will be real hard without a vice , be careful and don't break it , hope this helps
