Ford's and Mercury cars and trucks has a blower motor resistor to control the heat/ac fan speed. When the resistor is burned out, the fan will only work in high or not at all. The part is easy to replace, it's on the passenger side next to the blower motor. I don't need help finding it in the car or help with replacing it, I need to find a online store where I can buy one (two actually, two Ford's with same problem). Every store I check sells blower motors, but not the resistor. Even Motorcraft's website doesn't show it. The winning answer will be a url to an online store where I can buy this part. I think Taurus uses the same resistor, so those of you with the Taurus water leak problem may know the answer.

The resistor is available from Ford, base number 19A706, should be real easy to find. List price on one for a 2003 Taurus is only $16 so I doubt it would be worth paying shipping on to get one on line. Just be care full if you have a Sable or Taurus that did get water in it, they tend to work for a few days and then burn the new resister out since the motor was damaged.

Ok but what kind of car? As it may be in the same place, but design is ever so slightly different sometimes that it has numerous part numbers.

I'm guessing you got a sable (which uses the same resistor as the taurus)... be sure to get all the parts to fix the issue as their is a TSB to seal the fresh air intake tube with clear RTV and install a rubber shield over the fresh air filter (emailing a parts department should give you some ideas on prices.. as the rubber shield is not listed online.. plus as biker trash stated.. if resistor got soaked, the motor got soaked.. and the reseal job takes care of the water leak.. I live in one of the wettest areas of the nation and I haven't had a comeback yet after performing the reseal TBS)

Most resistors for the taurus/sables are stocked by Ford dealers locally to you.. if not, most can get the part in one day.

I ask the year and model as you have two seperate styles, one for manual A/C (which is a resistor block) or EATC (Electronic) which uses a transistor.. but if only on high , my guess is the Manual.

Try here for one:

Sometime you won't find parts on the motorcraft site as it doesn't have a motorcraft part number...

I don't know where you can buy it, but we've had good luck finding obscure parts on ebay. If its not there when you look, look again in a few days, and it may be. Sorry I can't help more and good luck finding that part. Also, you could go to the library and find the factory repair book, you know, the one they send to the ford dealership mechanics. It may have a part number so you can find where to order it more easily.

Is it possible to find a resistor with the same ohm value and replacing it with it?

I'm a parts guy at a ford dealership. E-mail me and I'm sure I can get you handled. Give me the year, make, and model. jfleming@burt.com. We will ship directly to your house via UPS.
