The yellow engine light is on. It happened before and the mechanic reset it from somewhere near the fuse box. It looked like he maybe pushed a little button. I'm 99% sure that its from a loose gas cap.

i had the same thing happen and i had a scanner that could clear the codes, but the code would always come back. It turned out that it was a loose gas cap. The mechanic you used should have tried to fix the problem not just the code. My mechanic told me the problem w/ my taurus was that the seal needed to be rotated on or near the cap. The seal was allowing air into the gas tank causing the sensor to come on. Since the light hasn't been on. Hope that helps some

Just take off the gas cap and retighten. Directions on how to fix this are in your owners manual, as it is a common problem. If that does not fix it (worked on my 2000 Focus), you can take it to Advanced Auto or Napa, get them to run a free diagnostic, retighten the cap, and that should fix the problem. If not, it could be another problem. My check engine light came on again the other day. I was starting to have a few acceleration problems. Went to the dealership, and my throttle valve was stuck open (this is at 40K miles). Face it, the car is 7 years old. It may need a doctor visit.
