I thought if the alternater was bad, I would have problems when the truck was running. I am not getting this. I know it's either the battery or alternater, but I thought the way you figured out the difference was if it died when it was turned off then it was the battery and if it died when it was running it was the alternater. Or does the alternater pull charge from the battery and if the alt isn't working it won't pull anything from the battery. Can someone help me?

as well as companys that offer upgrade parts for this type of engine, these old ford trucks are all steel and tuff as nails no plastic junk ,but they love gas, so far i have looked at a offenhouser intake that claims to improve fuel economy, i was thinking maybe to mix a newer aluminum intake with a factory fuel rail injection system and wire in the computor and other parts from a later model truck motor, i realize i would have to boar the holes for the injectors and build the air inlet control parts from other units, but all in all can this be done and what other problems could i run in to, also the fire to the plugs ? maybe a mag type distributor or what, iv'e had this truck since back when i was in school and really want the mpg to improve as well as dependable for long trips, later i want to give to my son when everything is problem free, if anyone out their can give me solid info it would really make my day, thanks so much for your help.

I am buying this mustang from a friend and he only wants a small amount for it ($1150.00) But I would really like to know how much he is jipping himself so I can give him something close to the real cost (if I can). It would be really nice if someone could help me out here... Oh, and it's condition is good, leather interior there are a few chips in the pain around worn areas but it's nothing that can not be fixed. The car has rear wheel stablizers and its engine has been completely rebuilt. That is pretty much all I know about the car. Hope some one knows the answer... :)

I drive a Ford F150 Extended Cab Pickup Truck. I have plenty of fluid in my radiator. The pressure in the lines seems ok. The heater core in and out is both hot and under pressure. I don't know what else I can check without spending thousands to do it. Someone said it might be in the knob, but that it would cost around $700. to check that.

I just replaced the heater core on my truck. The day after I was almost forced into a accident causing me to jam on my brakes. Since then when I accelerate in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd at the top of the gear/rpm I can hear a hum which I believe to be coming from the center of the engine, I can't really tell though obviously because I'm driving when this noise occurs. So being that it stops humming when I up shift I thought maybe the transmission fluid was low or something. That would bring me to this silly qeustion of where is the dip stick and/or resevoir for the transmission fluid. I looked in the normal places it would be and magically it is nowhere to be found. So if there is a knowledgeble soul out there please help soon
