I recently upgraded my Sirius satellite radio from the Starmate 3 to the Sportster 4. With the Starmate, I used the built-in FM transmitter and tuned it into an FM channel. I was quite pleased with the audio quality, however with the Sportster 4, I am very displeased and frustrated by the quality when using the FM transmission features. The factory setting for FM transmission on the unit is 88.1, however in my area (Wash, DC), other frequencies conflict with it. When I navigate to other stations and match the station up on my car radio, it never connects. 88.1 is the only channel that works, with much static. I have considered hardwiring the unit, but removing my radio to attach the adapter to do so seems risky with my anti-theft device. I could pay to have it installed (which I may end up doing), but I'd like to save money and do it myself, if possible. Would anyone have advice on how they use their Sportster unit?

Hi all,
I have a car CD player, 45 watts per channel, 4 channels (front left/right, rear left/right). I would like to run the front left/right channels normally to two door speakers, but the two rear left/right channels into one woofer. It is not a dual-voicecoil woofer. Is this OK?

I've got a 6 CD changer and need to hook up it's power cords. one needs to have power constantly, the other should only have power when the ignition is on (12 VCD). Anyone ever done this? I got a stock ford head unit. Should the constant power one hook to the battery?

I know i already asked but I just found out my amp has Smart-Engage turn on, where you dont need a turn-on because the music triggers the amp. However, my manual said they only work if im connection my high-level input to my stereo. If im taping into my rear speakers for line level inputs, does this mean i am using the high-level inputs? THANKS!

A couple days ago I finished installing (2) Infinity Reference 1252w subs to an Infinity Reference 611a mono amp in the trunk of my midsized 4-door sedan.

Go here to see the subs - http://www.crutchfield.com/S-ivQ6rU5NIHA/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=520&tab=essential_info&i=1081252W

Go here to see the amp : http://www.infinitysystems.com/car/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=REF611A&CheckProduct=Y&Language=ENG&Country=US&Region=USA

I have them wired for a 4ohm load using the diagram at - http://www.crutchfield.com/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html?suboptions=Mono%5F2%2D4ohm%2DDVC&type=mono
But the bass is very weak and distorted. The subs are in a sealed enclosure with 1.25 cu. feet each. Are they wired correctly?

I dont have any front speakers hooked up, I just have my 2 rear speakers hooked up. When I turn on my cd player I have no sound coming out of my rear speakers. Then I took a little surround sound speaker that I have in my house and connected it to the wires straight from the cdplayer that the front speakers should be hooked up to so I could just see if that would work then either one of both of my rear speakers were working + the little speaker I hooked up, then I turned the cd player off and turned it back on now none of the speakers work. I checked all fuses and wires all were good. anyone know why this is happening.

I have a 99 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. It has the factory radio and cd player. Last night it was really humid outside, and my radio/clock display got so dim I couldnt even see the time or the radio stations. Today, it is still horribly dim, so dim it looks like the car isnt even on.

Anyone know why this would happen? Its very annoying.

Thanks.
