A friend told me that when I lease a car it is actually worth it.

1. He said when you lease you don't pay the full amount of the car's tax.
2. At the end of the lease you can negotiate the price of the car, sometimes the price is lower.

Is this true? Should I lease the BMW? Or are there other factors I should consider?

Background: My dad's car is not very safe and I want to get them a new car. My dad commutes a lot for work (60 miles everyday)
Option 1: Buy a car for myself and let them drive my car.
Option 2: Buy a car for them with good MPG.

Around $4,000

Something not as common as a civic. (I don't want to drive something that I'm gonna a million of everywhere I go.)

Preferrably RWD but doesn't have to be.

4-6 cyllinder. No v8's. I want decent gas mileage.

Obviously used.

Thanks

I want to hear from those that know about cars and especially, this car. I am considering buying a 2000 Lexus RX300 with 89k miles in it. Dealer will drop the price from $18k to $14k after I chiseled them down aggressively. The car looks impeccable inside and out...But most importantly, is it a good car and how about the mileage? Is it too high? thanks!

I am looking at buying my first new car. It is all very new to me and I have gotten lots of tips but I don't know what some of them mean. For example, I was told to get the invoice to the car I am interested in, but I don't know what the invoice is; is it the paper that is posted in the window, if not what is that? Thanks!

budget is not a problem in this case, but my dad wants to buy me a safe car. I want either the Lexus IS350 or the Subaru WRX STi Impreza. my dad says he wont get me a car unless its under 250HP. I want to know how much horsepower is "the right amount" for a new driver.

here is the link to the craigslist add http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/car/366116092.html
one issue that i need to sort out is a sort of warranty deal i offered the seller(an auto broker). i said that i would pay $11k dollars and for one year he would pay up to $1k combined dollars of necessary repairs. he said he would go up to $400 in repairs for the first year. should i ask for more? is this even a good deal? are there potentially serious and costly problems that could develop at 109k miles for a 3 series?

thanks

I'm going to a buy a car later today from my friend. Te tag office and everything is closed today and he lives about 30 minutes away. He has unregistered the car and taken the tag off of the car as well. Here is where my question lies.

If I have the bill of sale is it legal for me to drive the car home without a tag?

This car is one of 215 made the first year they made the Grand National - it's a T-Type with less then 60,000 original miles - everything is original except the battery - It's very rare as there are only about 100 still owned. Unfortunately my husband doesn't know enough to give it the love it needs. Would like to sell it to a collector or someone that restores them but don't know how to find someone that would know what they are buying... if anyone has any suggestions they would be welcome... Thanks

I have a 2002 Beetle. I havent looked after it the way i intended so it has some scratches and a wee chip here and there. Apart from that and needing a new boot carpet it is fine. I have done less than 30,000 miles.

Hubby thinks we should stick to the original plan of putting it off the road for a while as we are getting a (nearly) new car and we still have his car. I think we should sell it privately and put the money towards buying the other nearly new car.

He thinks we can do it up in a few months and then sell it/trade it in but i think it will be worth less and less as time goes on no matter what the condition.

What does everyone think?

By the way, the other car we are buying is purely for use as a taxi! So we will use his car only for personal use.

I just bought my first used car, a 2003 Forester with automatic transmission (60,000 miles). It has power door locks, cruise control and a standard Suburu radio. I got it for $14,000 from a Toyota dealer who took it in trade from the owner, which may or not be a good deal. Anyway, I'm curious about what Foresters were selling for in 2003, and how much it depreciated to my $14,000. Also, if you have a Forester, are you happy with it?

For automatic transmission and/or manual transmission here?

I want to sell my truck, but I want to make it worth more. Kelley Blue Book says my vehicle should have 79 K miles on it, it only has 72 K on it, and there aren't any problems. I just want to get all I can out of it. There are a few blemishes and things that I can clean up and fix myself, but what is a key selling point on a used vehicle?

I emailed a private party in regards to a 99 audi w / 50k miles.. I got this email back:
Hello,

I am away with some problems in Glasgow, Scotland. Before leaving I had prearranged shipping with WorldPay so my presence in US isn't necessary. The car is in a warehouse of WorldPay in US, ready for delivery. In exchange I will offer a 5 days period of testing the car from the moment you receive it from the shipping company. So if you want to make this deal i will need the following details from you:

full name and address
shipping address
phone #

After I will have all this details I will forward them to WorldPay and I will proceed the order. WorldPay will contact you with all the details that you need to complete this deal and also to see that i am covered by them and that i am legit seller. Waiting your email with the requested details.

So- is this a scam?

I really want a '97 to '01 Honda Crv. I have enough money to finance one and I'm almost 18. We only have one car and we all have to share and sometimes it gets really hard. Now my sister doesn't work at the same job I do so its harder to share the car. BTW the car is shared by my mom, sis , and me. I think that if I get my own car things would be easier. I know I could pay payments on a car cause I've saved up all of my money. How would I ask or convience my mom to let me finance a car? how would I do it and what would I say? I know cause I'm not yet 18 that I'd probably need a cosigner, right. Please help, If I'm gonna do this I need to do it now.
