Look into the safety. I think Corlla is the best choice. Depends on what year it is or they are. I've had a friend with the colbat and thier great. But, no stay away from Ford. thier cheap cars. Cheap quality.
Goto KBB.com and compare them,
Corrola - Ha sonly 5 and 4 stars for safety. Has the highest Miles Per Gallon compared from these, and its got the second best horsepower with 130HP. Go with Corrola

Besides these three, I would definitely take a look at the Nissan Versa and Honda Fit. Both are excellent cars and relatively affordable.
But otherwise, the lack of side curtain airbags on the Focus is a little concerning, especially on a new one. I would try to get a car with side curtain airbags, like the Corolla, Cobalt, or Versa and Fit.
The Focus is okay, but it's past it's prime. Ford let the car waste away, much like it did with the Taurus. The focus was a revolutionary car when it came out in 2000, but the competition has caught up.

i have a 2002 ford focus and i have put 95,000 miles on it i bought it for the commute it has been way better than i expected i have a manual trany and i think it sounds a little cheap and noisier than the automatic model. but i have only had one problem with it since i bought it it was an o2 sensor that went bad and was coverd under warranty it is defiantly the best bang for the buck, not the coolest car out there but it takes 87 octane and gets good gas and very little maintnance required. oh i had to get a clutch slave master cylinder in i think i dont know it was coverd under warranty

I haven't really heard that many good things about american made cars (ford). I think the best bet is the Toyota Corolla because they are very reliable and they wont let you down. Good Luck!

There is nothing wrong with Ford. That's coming from someone who isn't a Ford fan. But the fact of the matter is: most new cars will provide you with plenty of trouble free miles. I don't believe that Jap cars are better in quality than American cars anymore.

Just buy a Nissan Versa 36 miles a gallon good insurance rates and 13,000 to 18,000 fully loaded. She can really grow up and live with this car. And it reflects good on you as a parent. Not only are you paying for art school &sociality classes at a major university your kid will find a guy with tattoos body piercings and get married and have 3 grand kids. And all that money spent will vanish. Your Girl you got to love them.

I go with the Corolla as first choice and Cobalt as my second choice. Remember what FORD stands for.

i would stay away from the ford, i know a lot of people who had transmission problems with fords, i would pesonally get an import since they give little to no problems and they are really reliable.
