one issue that i need to sort out is a sort of warranty deal i offered the seller(an auto broker). i said that i would pay $11k dollars and for one year he would pay up to $1k combined dollars of necessary repairs. he said he would go up to $400 in repairs for the first year. should i ask for more? is this even a good deal? are there potentially serious and costly problems that could develop at 109k miles for a 3 series?

thanks

After 100k miles, a lot of things can start going bad. Suspenstion parts will wear down, the engine can start losing compression. I would suggest having a third party mechanic inspect the car and give you the details of anything that is wrong. In the contract, have the dealer repair any defects found with the car. good luck.

First of all that's a nice car and $11K is probably right for your area. A 3 series is much cheaper near me, but I'm in the Southeast USA.

This warranty. Is he splitting the cost with you 50-50 up to $400. So he pays no more than $200 on a $400 repair or he pays no more than $400 on an $800 bill or he pays up the first $400 on any bill and you pay the difference. But you will have to decide in writing what repairs this warranty rule covers. I'm sure he will not accept any service, just major breakdowns.

I believe the 3 Series is a good reliable car and I hopew you never need to invoke this warranty.

well it look's as if the owner kept excellent care of this vehicle, but let alone its only worth $9,500 in excellent condition. BMW 3 series are reliable for about 300,000 miles if taken good care of. so i dont see any costly repairs in the next few years. Its a beautiful car, if you surely do love it go for it, id pay the 11k, because your not going to find one out there in this good of condition for less than that...hope i was some help...
