I am wanting to buy a new vehicle. I am willing to spend up to $25,000. I want an SUV mid-sized, with lots of interior room as well as plenty of room in the back for groceries and etc.. (that is one problem we seem to have with our vehicles). I want ABS, side curtain airbags included, and something that gets good gas mileage... Based on this, what is the best choice for me in your opinion. It has to be 4 door, I kinda prefer 4wd (but it don't have to be), and it has to seat 5 comfortably...

Once I've decided on the car I want, what is usually the next step as far as dealing with the salesman? When I finance, is it ok to go with the banks the dealerships use or my own?
I would like step by step process on dealing with sales guys.

Car has been for sale and sitting for 2 months, it's a nice car in great shape but being sold in a lower income area and hard to find buyers that can come up with the full cash up front. ($4500 or BO)

Someone has offered to make payments of $200wk while I hold the car until it is payed off. It will take approx 5.5 months to pay it off and at that time the title and keys would be turned over.
Does anyone have any good contracts that protect the seller in this situation?
My concerns
-What happens if they stop making payments?
-What happens if a couple months later they change their mind about the car?
-What about the car sitting for 6 months and the potential things that could go wrong with the car while sitting (dead battery, breaks rust up, etc) and would I be held responsible?

I've never bought a used car before, first time buying a car. My parents have always bought new cars, and they usually have to wait a week or two after buying the car before they can pick it up from the dealer. How about a used car? Can I drive off the same day I buy it?

I signed the contract for a used car got approved, they wanted more info on income,i provied that.so everything was supposedly ok.they car lot reposessed my car in the middle of the night,no warning.I called the company that did the financing and they said they knew nothing about it.They said that my car should't have been picked up,no reason to pick up my car. I bought this car in december06.I have had this car for two months.
Can the car lot do this legally and can I get my car back.If not may I GET MY DOWN PAYMENT BACK AND BUY ANOTHER. Can I hold the car lot responsible for me missing my job. I JUST WANT MY CAR BACK.

The car needs a paint job. We own 4 vehicles with 2 drivers. The A/C needs something, but the heat works well. The car has leather interior with no rips or cuts. Power windows, seats, cruise control..all in good shape. Brand new tires, purring engine no transmision problems. The car has 78+ thousand miles. Due to subdivision regulations, I can't put the car on the street, it's in the driveway, completely concealed from the public.

Will a major finance company like GMAC still finance if I have a big enough down payment, or will I have to go through a smaller company at a higher interest rate? I plan on puttine at least 30% of price of vehicle down.

Also, would a higher down payment help in the lease of a new vehicle if I can't get financed for buying new vehicle?

If u were a male farmer or builder in your 50s, would you buy an expensive piece of machinery from a girl in her 20s, or would you prefer to deal with a man? Be honest now, you're allowed to be sexist in your answer.

I am looking for a source for what laws/procedures a company has to follow before repossessing a vehicle in Ontario Canada. I think there is a 10 day notice they have to give you..however my lender is based in Texas and by the time I get the notice it is expired.

My loan is now one payment from being over and they are claiming I have to pay $900 in fees for the two times they put my car out for repo (but did not pick up because I paid even before getting the notice in one case and same day as getting it in another). My bone of contention is that since I did not get the notice till it was expired and the car was out for repo.....that should be illegal. When they are based in Texas should the 10 days not start from when I recieve the notice???

advice please.

I need to buy a car within the next few months, and my plan is to buy a one that I really like and drive it for at least 5 years. I am interested in hearing opinions of whether it is better to buy 'new' or 'used'. Thanks.

I have a friend who is a used car dealer...he said I can accompany him to a dealer auction. He said bring some cash if I ever need a car. I know that dealers buy used cars at auctions for very cheap prices, then sell them for thousands more. Can anyone give me prices on cars that have been bought at dealer's auctions?
