Do any of the Yahoo Uk or Ireland Community reside on houseboats (not boat-houses, there is a big difference here)
and if yes, what types do you live on and how do you like living on the water? The big advantage in living on a houseboat is that you never have to worry about flooding!
Are there any houseboat communities there and if so, where?
Any links you can provide me with will be appreciated.

Thank you

i have an 8 foot porta-bote which does not have a level floor. This means my battery will always be sitting at a slight angle. will a standard deep cycle lead acid marine battery (to power my trolling motor) leak easily? Or should i replace it with an AGM or gel type?

thanks for any thoughts.

Do most people think they are worth the cost or more expensive than they are worth?

Today i tried to hook up a cd player from a car to my boat. I hooked the yellow (hot wire) directly to the + terminal of the batt and the black ground wire to the - terminal. i know it was hot but the Cd player did not come on. what could be the problem. fuse was good. the cd player hasnt been used in a while and i may have been bumped around because it was in the trunk for a while. if the deck is broken can i just buy another car stereo and hook it up the same way or do i have to go marine. i have a caseing for it installed in the center console to keep it from the elements.. oh and its an 18' sea pro center console

My motor starts great, idles great, and when I drop the hammer= nothing. It fells like I've run aground or I'm overloaded or my hull is filled with water. If I ease into it the result is the same, no power.Does this have anything to do with the water/fuel valve? Please help, VERY frustrated!!

Our local Mercury dealer is hardly open.So I'm asking here. Why would the lower spark plug drip some water? We had it started, then it killed and when plug was taken out some water dripped out.Any ideas? It's a 1980 something Mercury boat motor.

I sheared my shaft! In order to replace it, I have to know how long it is... All of my documentation for the boat tells EVERYTHING about the shaft except how long it is. The engine is a universal 5411 diesel.

But I don't know much about them! Currently I have a three blade aluminum prop on a 22 ft SeaRay (inboard/outboard, Bravo One mercruiser). Are there significant performance benefits to changing to a stainless steel prop? How about different blade numbers? We use the boat for water skiing, tubing, etc, as well as driving to and from our cottage; it is already such a pig on gas, I'm not worried about using a little more.
