I am building a flat bottom punt boat. Dimensions: 6ft 5in long, 3ft 6in wide. Can anybody advise me of maximum load weight and if this boat will be stable. Depth of the sides: 14in. Would a 6in keel the full length help stability? I cannot increase the size because I am transporting it in the back of my volvo estate. I would be using this boat for cutting off over hanging branches at a lake, so I would be moving about quite a bit. Would welcome any further advise on stability.

This valuable ship completed the long haul to its destination but was not able to make the return journey. So the ship languishes there to this day, and although everyone knows where it is, no attempt has yet been made to recover it.

What is the name of this ship?

Hello all, can someone explain how would you get a 150 feet yacht ready to be towed? Suppose a situation in which you are at sea and for some reason the engine is not working and we need a tow to get to some port or anchorage. Please explain what kind of line (material, diameter and lenght) would you use as a towing line, and how would you set the line up in your bow.
Thanks.

I am replacing a transom on a 20' cudy, inboard Outboard, when I removed the old one I noticed the 2 sheet,s of ply were not Laminatet but Stapled, can I use Resin only and SS screws? also I know the thickness is critical, it apeared to have only 2 layer,s of cloth on the outer Skin, can I use 3 just to be safe and still be in the thickness range? the original thickness was 1 1/2" 2 Sheet,s of 3/4" ply, and I AM using Marine Grade Ply, I am a Body man of 30 + year,s so I know my way around Fiberglass, the early demise of the transon is from the amount of hole,s drilled for verious add on,s, at least 10 that were not properly sealed.I guess people use the cheepest Silacone they cay find on such a critical area and expect it to do the job.
Thank you.

I've been reading Patric O'Brien and they keep mentioning it. I know it has to do with which way the wind is blowing in relation to the ship and the coastline, but I'm not sure.

Any sailors out there who know?

This coming March, I'm going to be part of a crew sailing a 92 foot schooner from the Virgin Islands to Massachusetts. I've never done anything like this before, and I was wondering if people who have sailed before could give me some suggestions pertaining to things like:

what kind of stuff to pack
things to do onboard when not on watch
etc.

Anything you can think of to tell me that you think is useful will be helpful. Thanks in advance. =)
