I have a 13 foot fiberglass hull Bayliner. My husband and I bought the boat and we're fixing it up. :)

When the boat was purchased, it was in sad shape and without a motor.

Although the boat looks great now, I have to start looking into getting an outboard if we want to go fishing with it in late Spring.

The boat is rated for up to a 50 horsepower, but I don't want to push it, and I'm also trying to stick to my budget! :). I've been looking on craigslist and people are selling 16 foot aluminum boats with 5 horsepower motors!

My question is, what horsepower motor is best for the boat that I've described? I'm not looking to make a speed boat out of it, but I'd like it to have some "get up and go" if you know what I mean.

All opinions are appreciated.
Thanks in advnace!

I have just recently purchased Ranger 23 sailboat. The boat was somewhat neglected by the previous owners. I am trying to give it a facelift. The plastic (vinyl) covering is peeling off the walls inside the cabin. It will need to be replaced. Does anyone know what kind of material is used inside the cabin to cover the walls? It looks like self adhesive plastic liner of some sort. Thanx.

ive been watching videos of people riding there sleds over water and am gonna try it soon, but the problem is how do i get it out if it sinks. no i know osme people are gonna say things like 'dont even try it' or 'are you stupid?!' so just dont even reply with those comments. i would like usefull things. so how does one fix that problem? especially if its in deep water. im pretty sure im not gonna go diving in after it anytime soon, but im not gonna leave a $20 000 sled at the bottom of a lake/river/pond. ideas?

I geusse I could see how one of the old wooden battleships could sink cause of all the ballast and cannon and rigging and whatnot, but wouldn't a wooden rowboat be able to stay afloat? (since it's more or less a piece of wood, just in an unusual shape!) thanks!
