No licence in UK, but most other EU countries do require one for watercraft. May be local regulations in place regarding launch area, swimmers areas &c. Insurance not required for public areas, but may be needed if in marina. However 3rd party insurance cover is a must to protect you. Marine claims are expensive

You do not need a licence, but you need to abide by local byelaws and slipway rules. keep your speed down when close to the sure. I got done years ago, an i was'nt goimg that fast..Have fun stay safe

A LOT OF PLACES ASK FOR YOUR INSURANCE TO LAUNCH YOU BUT IF YOU CAN GET DOWN TO THE SHORELINE YOURSELF YOU WILL BE OK. YOU DONT REQUIRE A LICENCE

you need a lisence. You can obtain one online it is called the boaters saftey course. All you have to do is take a test and you pass. check out www.boatcourse.com and see if they offer a course for your state. (good website, i got my certification from them). If your state is not listed contact to local coast guard auxillary who offer classroom courses.
