Hey I have a 2000 21 foot Mako Bay Shark and need suggestions on what I should repower with. I am looking in the 200 to 250hp range. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I agree with the first guy. As a Yamaha certified tech i know the f250 is different, it has variable valve timing which allows it to have the low end power of a two stroke engine. Much quieter and more fuel efficient than a two stroke. It is an awesome engine. 2008 is going to see the introduction of a V8 four stroke rated at 350 HP.

We repowered with a 250 Yamaha 4 stroke on a 25 open fish 9.6 beam. The engine is a killer can't hear it running great on gas an pushes it 48knots wfo.The difference in the 225 = 250 in price is nothing the Eng are completely different. What the hp rating on your boat will the extra weight make a difference>As the Eng has some weight.
