You can cross the ocean on a packing crate, but it isn't a great idea. The Sevylor 12 foot inflatable is a nice boat for a lake or for use as a tender in protected harbors, but off the beach it will be dangerous. It will float forever if not holed, but what are your options should the motor fail and the wind is blowing you offshore? You won't be able to row against a moderately strong wind and will need to be rescued or prepare for a long slow voyage to France (or Tahiti).
These boats are a lot for the money, but the hulls are not as durable as boats coasting 3 to 5 times more.... so.... don't take chances.... it ain't an ocean boat, nomatter what they say. Near shore in a protected environment...they're a lot of boat for the money .... but I wouldn't push it.

Some days, the seas are rough, and some days the ocean is calm. I took an inflatable boat to the beach with me once when I was younger. I fell asleep on it and got a terrible sunburn as I drifted far out.

It is used as a dinghy on the ocean. It can be used at the beach, wash it well after. Always wear a life jacket .It can handle some waves but can also flip.
