I go fishing alot usually I bank fish and once in a great while I will use a paddle boat
so I have never really looked into trolling motors
I have no idea how to mount one on a boat or even use one
which its probably pretty simple but anyways.....
recently I have been looking into getting a jon boat
I am not sure if I want a 10 or 12 footer yet

any suggestions on what kind I should get for a 10 or 12 ft jon boat?
or videos on how to mount one on a boat?

hi
this happens to be an area i know a little bit about ,
a trolling motor wont push a 10 or 12 ft john boat very well what you might check into is a gheenoe i have had 3 gheenoes with trolling motors and it is the perfect combination a 36 lb thrust trolling motor will push it 7 or 8 miles per hour on a hot day thats just fast enough to create a cool breeze very manuverable a gheenoe is a canoe that has had some modifications done you can stand up in it, you can throw a castnet off of it ,it wont tip over.
check out gheen manufacturing in titusville florida, also custom gheenoes .com
if you are dead set on a john boat get a 10 or 15 h.p. gas outboard motor that would push a 12 ft at about 15 -18 mph.

now go catch a fish will ya

I have a minkota on a 12 ft. gamefisher. It is a 40lb thrust maximizer. It pushes the boat just fine with my wife and I in it. It has infinite speed control so trolling isn't an issue either. With the maximizer the battery lasts all day.

I got a used 30lb thrust minkota for $50 (new they are about $80 at walmrt). It pushes my 14ft jonboat quite well. It mounts of the transom with provided clamps.
check your local pawn shop for used one.
