hot cold air was still blowing in the truck. The truck is a old Florida work truck and we took the heater core out years ago when it was leaking, we have since moved up North and need the heat. I think I discovered that there is a cover missing under the dash near the heater core and that all the cold air is blowing out, almost as if the blower is just blowing past the heater core and out this open area therfore not warming the air. I am tring to figure out what this cover may be called, so that I can purchase one to fix the problem. Any suggustions as to what this may be called would be appreciated. Thanks

I live in Ontario. I'm basically wondering if they'll actually do a background check or if I can just give her the money to go pay it. On the ticket it says "he".

So, if Knight Industry Two Thousand could create a car like KITT in the 1980's, why aren't the car companies making these now?

The Cadillac CTS was named Motor Trend's Car of the Year for 2008. Do you agree? How does it compare to Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Azera or Sonata, Lexus? I drove a 2007 CTS as a rental and loved it, but it lacked something when I compared it against a Hyundai Azera! Any CTS owners out there agree or disagree? Comments? Thoughts?

I had no insurance so I got a year suspension after showing proof of new insurance. The Court said I could only commute to work and back.

Why didn't they verify what that commute was? If I ever got caught driving all I'd ever have to say is that "I'm commuting right now", right? They never said what my route must be nor even checked that I in fact worked an hour's drive away.

I mean I'd have to get gas at some point, point? So I'd have to get off the commute route to do that, meaning I could get groceries or do about anything else on my way to getting gas or on my way home.

Is this my fault somehow? Or a flaw in the legal system at that time?

My co-worker got a ticket for sliding off the road (it is snowing pretty good here in Vermont). The cop said it was for "failing to maintain control" of her car. I think this is total BS and she should fight it. She didn't hit anyone or anything, she wasn't speeding (45 in a 65) and there was no damage to her car. Someone in front of her put their brakes on, she put her brakes on and off she went. It happens all the time around here, especially during the first snowfall of the year. Who else thinks she should fight it and does anyone have any advice?

When the engine is cold on my 2002 Toyota RAV4, and I start it, it operates at a high idle speed as expected. Then after a minute or so, it switches so that it fluctuates between a high idle speed and a very low idle speed, about every 2 or 3 seconds. Up and down, up and down. If I'm driving, it will actually make the vehicle have a jerky movement. A quick jab on the gas pedal seems to make it stop.
What could it be, and what is the solution?

Hi All,

I have a Renault Clio (1991 model!) which broke down last weekend. It lost power over about 10 minutes and then wouldn’t start at all. The mechanic has said it is probably a broken or slipped cam belt and that it will cost £95 to open up and find out if any damage has been caused to the engine. Can anyone tell me what is the likelihood that it has caused damage to the engine?? I am really hoping it is fine but don’t want to fork out £100 to find out it is wrecked. Shall I just cut my losses now and get rid of it or is it work the risk?? It didn’t make any loud, crunching noises as some people have reported but it was running pretty rough by the time it stopped going altogether.

Many thanks
Julian

I was having an argument with my son, who barely tightened the lug nuts on my tires, by hand. Is that dangerous? I have to go on a 1,311 mile trip this week…..

I turn the key back, take it out, but my car keeps running. However, I can only do this while in park and I do have to turn the key back as usual. While it's still running with the key out, I cannot put the car in gear or move the stearing wheel. This happens only one in 20 starts, but it is a huge hassle nonetheless. Please help.

I'm looking at getting out of my traditionaly financed car and getting into a lease. I have alot of negative equity (about 8-10k) and they are doing huge rebates on the focus's right now and they suggested I go with one of those. My credit score is in about 606 according to the 3 burearu credit scores and i've never ever missed a payment. I have stable income and have been at my job for almost 2 years. My husband has our car thru ford credit (my name is not on the loan) would it be possible you think for me to get approved? I was approved last month when we bought our second car thru another company (traditional financing)

'99 Plymouth Grand Voyager with 126k mile. Regular maintenance has been done, most recently major job done, th 120k maintenance. The coolant is leaking and noticed that the heat from the A/C was not working anymore since the leak started. Even after heating up the car on idle, the heat would not come on. After a little driving the heat would come on but not as hot or strong as usual. I filled the coolant reserve tank and it temporarily fixed the problem. The heat would come on when I am driving the car for a long period of time but it would not blow heat when it is idle. coolant temp has not been rising or lowering. What maybe the problem? What is making the coolant leak? Should I be concerned about the musty smell that comes out when you first turn on the AC? What should I be asking an auto center to look at and how much should I expect to pay to fix the problem once that is identified? Thanks for your help on this one.

If I break a tie rod and I'm going 65-70 mph, will that wheel stay somewhat straight (due to centrifugal force) long enough for me to slow down or will it flop around and possibly flip the car?

I've been reading the messages at Volvo forums, and many people say the street ride is better with Koni FSD shocks than with Bilstein. I am curious to know if anybody has used the Monroe Sensa-trac shocks, and how they worked out. Should I spend the money (more than 2X more) on the Koni or just get the Monroe. I'm not looking for track performance, I'm looking for good street handling on typical bumpy roads. From my research, Bilstein is out for me, because I don't want a super stiff ride. Does anybody know what kind of shocks originally come on a Volvo S40? (I'm sure they don't make there own.)

To summarize: Should I "spring" for the Koni or cheap out with the Monroe?
I intend on keeping factory springs, factory alloy wheels, and the standard size tires.

Note: Lowering the ride is not an option I have been considering. We get some good snow, and I don't want to be stuck for lack of ground clearance.
