Well, you need to file identity theft charges!! So notify that creditor, all three credit bureaus, and put a fraud alert on your account. And your local police department.

First - contact the 3 credit bureaus and let them know to put a fraud alert on your account. Apparently some one has stolen your identity. You also want to check all 3 of your credit reports and see if there is anything else on them that is not right. You will need to dispute any charges/loans that you did not take out.

I would ask the credit bureaus what to do and who to contact about anything that is on your reports that you did not purchase. Once you confirm that your name/credit have been fraudulently used - you may need to contact your local police and file a report. Then follow up with the dmv and state - you don't want a delinquent tax bill in your name. Follow up in writing and keep copies of all the letters that you send.

You may want to do a google search for Identity Theft - see if you can find a reputable web site that can offer advice on what to do. Be sure you don't give out any private information on any of these sites.

Good Luck to you.

First contact the credit card company tell them what happened. They will probably cancel your card so no more charges accrue, then ask them to forgive the charges against your card for the car. ( I suspect, however there may be more to this story?")

Well, if the car is worth anything, you could always get a copy of the title and then have someone repossess the car for you.

Go to Secretary of State or DMV and have them check it out , then to your police department.

ITS BEST IF YOU CONTACT YOUR LOCAL (DMV) DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES OFFICE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL BE GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.
