I am wondering if it makes sense to rent a car that costs $160 for a week-long trip of about 1500 miles OR take my own car and save the $160.

I am debating whether taking my own car will entail higher maintenance expenses for my car later?

This morning before work I went to the gym and when I returned I found that someone had dented my back driver-side wheel arch. I filed a police report, hoping they could get access to the CCTV footage there (so long as the system was working correctly) and find out who was responsible. However, if they're not able to trace the person responsible, I'm not keen to lose my first chance of a no claims bonus and end up with even more expensive insurance. (My insurance last time was £700 for a Punto because someone crashed into me and the claim was outstanding when I renewed. I didn't get any money back though when it was found to be not my fault, so under 25s must be the same risk profile for insurance purposes whether they cause a crash or are victim of one). Please could someone let me know the insurance implications if I:

1) Report it to my insurance and future insurers but don't make a claim, repairing it myself.
2) Don't report it and repair it myself.

Thanks very much.

While I am no mechanic, I have replaced spark plug wires, I installed a new radio, and replaced a radiator hose. I have a squeaky belt on my 2000 Honda Civic, how hard would it be for me to replace it?

I just read an article on yahoo about the most expensive vehicles to fuel up. The highest was a Ford F250 (at 3.50 a gallon). Of course, it was all SUV's and trucks. I know that those vehicles are gas guzzlers, and that some people can obviously afford it, but 140 bucks? It seems so wasteful. How much will people pay for one tank until it is just ridiculous, $200,$250?? I just thought it was crazy what people would pay just so they can drive a certain vehicle. Any thoughts?

Despite the fact that it's 11 a.m., it's a little dark and dreary out and starting to rain(here in PA it's the law that you must turn your headlights on when you have your wipers on). Why am I passing so many cars without their lights on at all?

Anyone have any experience of this car? Any hints or tips to look for when buying or driving one? I am 22, always owned minis but am now looking for something similar with a folding roof and the sprite comes to mind. My budget is £8k, £10 at a top-end push.

Cheers!

I bought a 2004 Honda Accord from a Ford dealership in Sept. 2006. I have been having problems with it. I noticed some tiny oily looking water mark dots on it and the dealer says it is acid rain. Since I bought the car, I have had to change the brake pads. The car also blew a tire, and the front rotors had to be replaced because it would shake when I brake. Now the left turn signal is not working. When the bulb is replaced it blows up. I was told the switch is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. This is too much trouble for a three-year old Honda car. Did I buy a lemon? If so, do I have any legal recourse in South Carolina especially since it has been 14 months since I purchased the car and there is no warranty left on it. I always maintain my cars properly so it is not a problem of maintenance. I have also noticed that the paint on the car is not as shiny as it could be. It is black but looks a little dull. Am I being paranoid here? Please help

yesterday i drove my honda civic on road, it got overheating. the coolant came out like steam and boiled water from the cap of reservoir. the temperature gauge hit the red zone. I added some coolant and drove the car again. the temperature hit red again. however if i turn on the air flow in the car, the temperature can keep normal, but the blow is very hot. I thought the fan of the radiator was not working. that might because the thermostat of the fan. do anybody have another idea? thanks

i asked a question about a week ago about my breaks squeeking and it seems that i just need to change the pads... talked to a coworker and he insisted i can do the job myself... im a pretty smart guy and im sure i can figure it out, but is there anything not intuitive i need to do? anyone got a step by step process? so far as i can tell its just:
raise car
take off tire
take off caliper with some tool that i need to buy (not that expensive right?)
change the pad
sand down the rotor a little to reduce the chance of it squeeking
put the caliper back on
put the tire back on

am i missing anything?

im doing it all myself because i dont want to spend much money on the car, it just needs to last me through the winter...

I took my car to get the brakes inspected, the last time they were inspected was in July; they passed. The car sat until Sept when I started driving it again. Now today they told me that the front brake calipers was leaking, I need brake pads, front rotors, and a left rear caliper, and the piston was locked, so all together I need 3 calipers, plus the other stuff. Does this even sound right? I had no problem stopping, my brake light didn't come on nothing alerted me that there was this many problems wrong with my brakes. Are they trying to rip me off????
