I took my car to get the brakes inspected, the last time they were inspected was in July; they passed. The car sat until Sept when I started driving it again. Now today they told me that the front brake calipers was leaking, I need brake pads, front rotors, and a left rear caliper, and the piston was locked, so all together I need 3 calipers, plus the other stuff. Does this even sound right? I had no problem stopping, my brake light didn't come on nothing alerted me that there was this many problems wrong with my brakes. Are they trying to rip me off????

Definitely get a second opinion, it never hurts. Just tell the mechanic that you are not going to get it fixed right now, and go get a second inspection done. Most places will inspect your brakes for free.

It is possible that a brake caliper leak did develop over time, so I'm not ruling that out. If the brakes did start to leak, it would have contaniminated the brake pads, thus requiring you to need a brake job. But I definitely would get a second opinion. Brake fluid leaks won't show up until your brake fluid is dangerously low, and it may be a small leak.

And you may not see the leaking fluid on the ground, since brake dust will typically trap the fluid that is leaking, and then it will typically leak on the the tire's rim, and may never show up on the ground where you are parked.

But definitely get a second opinion.

To put it simply, it's your life on the line when the brakes aren't working right.
A second opinion is definitely in order here. Shop around for the best price. Find a good local independent garage that that will give you a good job with a reasonable price and some sort of warranty on parts and labors. And if you need 3 calipers, I would strongly suggest replacing the forth. For a little more at this point, it's worth the expenditure
Again, the car's no good if it doesn't stop on it's own.

And utility poles hurt.

if you have one leaking caliper you have to replace it for sure but when many other mechanics says the calipers are lock (most times) they calipers are not locked so....
each caliper has 2 small cylinders or bolts where caliper moves on, those things have to be well lubricated with grease, with the pass of the time the grease is gone and the caliper fuses to the cylinder make the caliper get lock so i guess that is what you have there

one bad caliper can harm the condition of the rotor so is hard to say if it need to be replaced or not

you can get a second opinion..... but all new parts you install are all yours but you can choose save some money by not install them all

get a second opinion

you need to change the slave cylinder. there is a seal behind the cylinder that,s leaking fluid on the floor.
