I just read an article on yahoo about the most expensive vehicles to fuel up. The highest was a Ford F250 (at 3.50 a gallon). Of course, it was all SUV's and trucks. I know that those vehicles are gas guzzlers, and that some people can obviously afford it, but 140 bucks? It seems so wasteful. How much will people pay for one tank until it is just ridiculous, $200,$250?? I just thought it was crazy what people would pay just so they can drive a certain vehicle. Any thoughts?

I understand some people need it for their jobs, etc. It is unfortunate for them that they have to pay such high prices. I am really talking about people that have huge gas guzzlers that don't really need it. Even if they can afford it, it is needless waste.
BTW: I drive a Honda Civic, $30 max to fill up.

Hopefully the higher prices will help people make smarter choices on what they drive. If you choose to drive a big gas eating SUV then do not complain about gas prices. I personally drive a 94 Cherokee and it gets about 18mpg. Not the best but far from the worst. I also use this to go off roading, haul kayaks, and generally places cars can't get. It cost more in gas but less than having two vehicles.
It's America and you can drive what you want. I in no way discourage you or anyone else from picking a vehicle of your choice. However, if you pick the 2500HD truck as someone mentioned and don't actually need it for what it was build for such as towing and hauling loads then there is no reason to complain about the gas cost as you have picked a vehicle knowing it's fuel requirements. As such I see no reason to bash those people who make the choice for the big vehicle and do not complain about gas cost. Either they can afford it or in my case need a vehicle with those particular capabilities.
I'm also not interested in hearing about anyone's hybrid. Fact of the matter is it causes more pollution over it's life cycle than even the Hummer H1. Look it up if you don't believe me. The mining of materials for the batteries and their waste after they're used up is far more polluting than the green house gasses the H1 emits.

It seems that more and more people are trying to give me a hard time about driving a pickup. Butt how much gas would I save by making many trips to the lumber yard when I can haul all that I need for the current job in one trip?
If the only thing you are likely to haul is the kids or groceries you may not need the truck. If you need to move 10 sheets of plywood, or 8 semi truck tires that subcompact hybrid car would be more work then the price of gas.

I know, it is crazy. "They" need to come up with another way we can drive and not use oil. It isn't a renewable resource..........idiots. Ok, off soap box. I don't know where you live but I live in Oklahoma, where everything is so spread out. It isn't easy to car pool and we don't have a good transportation system because we are so spread out. For example it can take 20 minutes to get from one side of OKC to another without traffic. I don't drive an SUV or truck but a lot of people here do because there are a lot of farms and that is just how it is.......you can't haul a lot of crap in a car. I have to pay whatever gas is because I don't have a choice. I have cut down my driving but it isn't that much of a help. I honestly don't know if I had an SUV or a truck if I would down grade.....it would just depend. It is all crazy, you are right.

some people dont think about it before they buy the car or truck or some of them just dont care. they just put it on the good old credit card and worry about it later. We have an 18 wheeler and it costs us almost $500 or more to fill up. the truck is a volvo and we average about 6 to 7 mpg. If we are lucky we get 7 1/2 mpg. as you know diesel cost more than gas now.

I routinely pay over $300 per stop to fill up my truck! Of course, it holds almost 150 gallons of diesel fuel, and I rarely drive it unless I am being paid for it!

How much to fill is a function of how large the tank is, nothing more. $140.00 = 40 gallons at $3.50/gal.
FYI, 40 gallons means that truck has dual tanks.
Not an option with yours.
I can see you're trying to make a point, but you're using the wrong info.

Wah! I drive an absurdly large vehicle with a huge engine and it costs too much money to fill it! deal with it. Maybe you should upgrade to something "sensible" and "efficient"
40 bucks from empty to fill my legacy and it goes for a month. No issues with deep snow either.
