last time I got an oil change the meter that shows how much oil you have was higher than normal, so later I waited til my car was cool and checked the level myself and it was about 4 inches about the 'do not fill past this line' line. Well today I got another oil change and it is still too high! I thought maybe the other place just messed up but if it did that for 2 different places I went to, what is wrong?

For those BWM owners, is premium gas required or just recommended? Does it significantly impact performance/mileage by using a lesser grade?

I plan to buy a certified pre-owned 2004 Z4 within the next few weeks. Most of the cars that I'm finding at dealerships are listed around $29,000.

Since I'm paying cash/check, what is a realistic figure to negotiate off this price? Is 10% too much/little?

Most of the cars are lease returns with a trade-in value around $23k. Should I aim for a final price in the $25k-$26k range?

Thanks for your help. Not sure if BMW negotiates like other used car dealers.

Ok... it's me again... I got the neutral/backup switch replaced and now the van won't even rotate. I tested the continuity and with the van in park, the two outer posts have continuity (they're not supposed to) and the centre post has NO continuity no matter what gear I'm in.
Is this a problem with the switch or the linkage? Something else?

I am thinking of buying these: Kenwood 50W x 4 CD Deck with front aux input ( I want input to conect my Sirius Stiletto 10) With Sub output

Also the sub: Alpine 10" Single-Voice-Coil 4-Ohm Subwoofer
with Continuous Power Handling 200W
Peak Power Handling 600W

And a AMP: Rockford Punch 300W Class AB Bridgeable 2-Channel Amplifier with Variable Crossovers
Peak of 600W @ 4 ohms
Cont of 200w @ 4 ohms

All I would do is put in deck, and plug in a wire in the sub out plug, and on that wire first would go the amp (under my seat) then right from amp, to the Sub? Am I correct? Will it work?

My 10 year old son was riding his motorbike (i know he shouldnt be) on the footpath. When a car started to reverse out of a driveway and hit my son. My son tells me that he saw the car and braked but the car then stopped and he looked to see the driver talking to the owner of the house and so let go of the brake and continued on as he did so the driver of the car reversed and hit him. damage to my son is minimal and damage to the bike is in the middle of the bike. (engine area). The driver of the car came to my house the day after he hit my son and handed me a bill for damage to his car. when i said that i refuse to pay it he intimidated me and threatened me. Who is at fault. Is my son at fault? would it be the same if it was just his push bike? or is the driver of the reversing car at fault? What should i do?

I'm trying this for a fan-fiction; it's one of those quick details that'll probably never come up again, but it's been bugging me for a week.
This character flashes back to his childhood. He gets kidnapped, and has no time to prepare, so it's not like he brings a lock-pick set or anything. Anywho, he's shoved into the back seat of this car, and the doors are locked with child safety locks (or for more of a challenge, I'll accept input on police cars, whose back doors aren't supposed to open AT ALL from the inside, or so the movies have it....)
....How does he get out? Can he get at the lock from the inside so that he can escape, and more important, how does he do it before the kidnappers realize what he's doing? (No, they're not bumbling idiots, I just want him to be really good at what he does.)
Or must I to cheat on that scene, and when (end of flashback) he's asked how he got out , he responds only with "Very carefully"?
I may have other quick-shot fiction questions in the future.

I want to re-do my exhaust on my 79 blazer, it has a 5.7 350 in it.

I want to run a 3" exhaust, I bought a magnaflow carsound 3" cat and a Flowmaster Super 44 3" as well. Can I do the exhaust and wait on the headers, or should I do the headers and wait on the exhaust? Or should I wait a few months and do it all at once???

Woke up one cold morning and it was shifting roughly. After an hour, it would not shift into gear, unless turned off. Could this be the master and slave cylinder? This happened about 7 years ago and it was those cylinders.
If so, how hard is it to replace this? Is it a matter of simply replacing the parts, or is it more complicated like removing many other things to get to the clutch, and then something like adjustments that no rookie can do?
I am trying to save some money, and since it is parked at my house, that's $75 just to get it to a shop.
Are there any helpful books or online resources that would help with all the tools necesaary to do the job, and completion of the job. I am in the Tampa area, so if anyone knows someone who can do the job, let me know.

I had a blown head gasket and got it fixed by a mechanic, but after the repair I found oil leaking from head gasket. Does it mean the repair was not done properly? What should be done to fix it? Just seal them with sealant or need to replace the gasket again? The mechanic is not friendly and I don't think he will change the gasket. It is really a waste of my money and time to deal with him.

Help got a p reg 406 1900td and when I start it from cold is pours smoke for about 30sec.
I has been like this for ages there is a broken cable going to the carb, someone told me it is part of the cold start system and although it smokes it will not damage the car.
Is this correct? and would it be an expensive job to have done?
Many thanks
Brian
