If it's the only thing wrong with it, get an estimate from a mechanic shop for the repair, if it's $250.00 or less I say go for it.

you don't seem to know cars very well, do you have any friends or family that do, if you know anyone let them look at the car first, there is never just one thing wrong with a car, if the fuel pump is bad and the car wont start she could be hiding a million other broken parts from you. a thousand bucks is a good price for a car that old, as long as it runs decent. Have someone look at it.

1987 caddy is fuel injected, pump alone will cost more than $20,or $30, then you need someone to replace it. a shop probably will charge anywhere from $ 175.00 to $300.00 to provide pump, and labor to replace it.( I do not know where you are from,so this is a guess) This still makes the car worth it.IF the car is in good shape otherwise, AND you intend to keep it and drive it for quite some time. Hope this helps, good luck!

nicely, i'm effective we the two comprehend the old asserting that money talks and each and each of something walks. for a used vehicle for reliability, non-relatives, this could be palms down toyota or honda. yet is paying the top classification for a sixteen y.o. boy nicely actual worth the dividends. it is all too based on the way he drives and cares for, or abuses, his experience. in my view, i could positioned him an older Caprice or Crown Vic for countless reasons, and permit him hassle concerning to the gas invoice. Teaches responsibilty, somewhat with money. whether, if he's standard to be the exception to the rule of thumb, and wont bend to look stress, then the unique plan of Honda or Toyota makes suited experience, as they're going to preserve abit of their fee if cared for and could be person-friendly to sell whilst it's time to enhance. by employing the way, a carfax is mostly a stable theory on any used vehicle, till its purely some old $2 hundred door slammer, no longer what you indicated as searching for.
