I'm trying this for a fan-fiction; it's one of those quick details that'll probably never come up again, but it's been bugging me for a week.
This character flashes back to his childhood. He gets kidnapped, and has no time to prepare, so it's not like he brings a lock-pick set or anything. Anywho, he's shoved into the back seat of this car, and the doors are locked with child safety locks (or for more of a challenge, I'll accept input on police cars, whose back doors aren't supposed to open AT ALL from the inside, or so the movies have it....)
....How does he get out? Can he get at the lock from the inside so that he can escape, and more important, how does he do it before the kidnappers realize what he's doing? (No, they're not bumbling idiots, I just want him to be really good at what he does.)
Or must I to cheat on that scene, and when (end of flashback) he's asked how he got out , he responds only with "Very carefully"?
I may have other quick-shot fiction questions in the future.

Can't see a way to edit my question now that people have answered--maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place, but that's why I'm "answering" my own question by further clarifying the question.
To clarify: One, he's flashing back to something that happened when he was a child, so if there's a child/adult difference, I want to know if a child (in terms of size and general build, not smarts) could do it. Two, I don't want to try having him reach out the window to get open the door from the outside. The whole point of this question is finding a way to open the door by getting at the locking mechanism. He's supposed to be good at picking locks and similar stuff , I'm just stumped as to how to make those skills relate. I was thinking something along the lines of tearing off the paneling, but that's where the attention of the kidnappers becomes a problem--not to mention I don't know if it could be done.
I do appreciate the input, though, from all of you (except that "Yes I can, I'm MacGyver" line; not trying to sound like a flame, but that was terribly uninformative). I'd just prefer responses that use more detail than "yes" or "no." Thanks, though, y'all.

(BTW, if you happen to look for any other questions I might put up, since they're typically the one-sentence deals in my fiction that--like this one--will probably never be relevant beyond that one sentence, there's no telling what category to find them in. This one's in Car/Maintenance only because I'm asking about the Child Lock and the locking mechanism.)

Not for a kid, no, but certainly possible for an adult.

The access to the toggle is in the edge of the door itself, and isn't available for fiddling when the door is closed.

While a kid probably couldn't do it, there's no reason your adult character couldn't pull the liner off the inside of the door (make it an easy one in your story) to get at the mechanism itself. Might be a tad noisy, though -- your kidnappers are going to need to be distracted!

on the locking equipment (latch) for each back door there's a small toggle style lever. basically bypass this toggle to the different position. ensure the motorcar is unlocked earlier you try this. you may no longer get it finished properly and get heavily locked out of your automobile.

no you can't open it from the inside, thats why those child locks are there to keep young children from opening the door.
