UK government requires specially designed seats for children under 12 who are also under 4ft.5ins. in height. This will be a great expense for many families. To what extent may this have been brought about through lobbyiing by the car seat manufacturers, who stand to make a windfall?

About 6 months ago the "check engine" light was on, but I didn't fix it yet because I'm low on budget. Just now I went for a smog check and get this code P0420. The guy told me to replace the whole thingy for about $1000. Do I have another option?

The car is a 305 TPI Trans Am, 1986. I keep having people trying to get it but won't tell me why! I have had one guy who thinks anything that does not say Mopar is not worth driving, but still drools all over my hood! WHY! And no it is not for sale.

I have removed the door panel. Does anyone know which wires to short out on the switch block to raise the window as it might be the switch issue. Any suggestions gratefully received.
Going on holiday shortly and need to get it closed as a short term fix and then spend some time when I get back.

I'm fixing a ladies 89 Silverado. The calipers are held in with 3/8" allen bolts. The outside of the bolts are round. The top bolt is stripped. Someone used too small of an allen to get it out, so they bent the squeal tab back on the brake pad.

I used a grinder and made 2 flat spots on the bolt to try and get it out with a crescent wrench, didn't work.

I drilled a 1/4" hole through the head and put a 1/4" grade 8 bolt in there to pry it out but that didn't work.

I have a 220 arc welder and a 110 mig.

Any ideas how to get this bolt out? My jeep has been sitting in her driveway for 3 days now, while I have her truck.

I have ridden in Mercedes, but never driven one. Why does anyone buy one. The two I have ridden in both seemed like pieces of junk; one - a "C" class seemed like a $15K compact car. The other - a big, new one (700 series?) actually leaked on me! It was raining out and water came through the ceiling light!

Consumer Reports always ranks them low on quality and reliability and whenever I see one I can't help but think, "There goes a FOOL who paid too much for their car!" - so much for status!

Maybe Mercedes used to say "affluence", but the message these days is "Old Geeser On Board Who Overpaid For An Unreliable Car"

And don't get me started on Mercedes SUVs and Wagons - absolutely laughable that someone would associate status, style, reliability, or performance with these! Ha!

So, Mercedes owners - are you aware that for every person that admires your car, there is another who laughs at you? Why are you willing to pay so much for a car that is passe' and unreliable?

5 years ago, no dealer would look at Kelly Blue Book report. I tried it but that is when there were alot smaller difference between trade-in and retail. Today everytime you buy a car here in the midwest thats all they push. "your trade-in according to KBB is blah! blah! blah! and "we are selling just under KBB". I just priced up my Loaded 05 Durango to see where it is. I bout it with 6,000 miles on it at supposedly $2500 under KBB just over a year ago. Know the retail is saying $23,655 trade-in is coming in at $13,500. Are you kidding me. $10,000 dollar difference. KBB is a huge scam with the dealers thats pretty clear.

one of my coworkers got in an accident and he was wondering how long it takes to settle. He need facts. He said that a big truck was blocking the stop sign and he ran it but the police only gave the big truck a ticket and not him or the person who hit him. Also he was wondering if the 1/3 that the lawyers take was fair when he was the one suffering.
