This morning I went to the store and on the way there I noticed the belt was squeaking a lot. When I got there and turned the car off I heard a loud hissing noise under the hood. While I was in the store it stopped so I drove it home. On the way home, it ran a little warmer than normal but not hot. When I parked it, it started to smoke a little and was making the hissing noise again. What could that be?

i have a 95 dodge caravan- with 150,000 miles on it... ( bought it brand new) i am always having to send it to the garage to get the injectors cleaned, as it will just quit running when taking foot off gas, have tried injector cleaners with no luck.. and having them cleaned twice a year gets expensive.. can someone tell me how to do it myself. thanks for the feedback.

I'm tired of hearing about 16-year-olds dying in car wrecks because they were driving stupidly, or were otherwise outdriving their experience or maturity level.
Rather than the current practice of getting their temps at 15 and full license at 16, I think kids should have to keep those temps until they're 18, THEN test for their full license. It'd give them more time to build on-the-road experience.

Who agrees with me?
Who has a better idea for reducing accidents among new drivers?
(And sorry, teens, but I don't want to hear about how this will inconvenience your life. You'll adapt. Teens always have. You probably have IM and a cell phone; you can certainly keep in touch with your friends. So bring something else to the debate.)

I've heard that if you move the gear shifter into neutral increases gas mileage if done as apposed to breaking while in drive.

Ok I have a 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse w/ 120k miles (automatic, 4 cylinder) and it has tons of scrapes and scratches on the body, a door that is totally messed up and an engine that just BARELY runs. A dealer wants to do a straight trade on a 95 (or 96, can't remember) Dodge Neon with clean body, nice interior and 150k miles. The original price he had on it was $450, but he said he'd give me a straight trade. Should I do it? I mean I need a running car immediately so I can get to work, so I can't really be choosey and this sounds like a good deal to me. But I don't know alot about cars, plus I'm a girl and dealers like to get over on us. SO I NEED ADVICE ASAP!!

I have a 2003 Mazda 6 with 32,000 miles on it. My last oil change was at 28,215. Before that it was about 25,500 or so. I see in the owners manual it recomends every 5,000 miles. I have read on the net of people extending the interval to 7,500 miles. I have even seen one article on "extend life" systems which adives intervals of up to 10,000 miles! I was brought up on the 3,000 mile oil change system and have been for the most part a fairly strict adherant to it. I was wondering what is the best oil change interval for non-synthetic (natural, fossil fuel based) oil? Should I stick with the 3,000, follow the manuals recomended 5,000, split the difference and go with 4,000? I plan to own this car for a very long time and want to get the most out of what to me is an investment. At the same time I don't want to needlessly throw money away. Any advise, tips, or suggestions would be more than welcome. Thanks in advance.
