The car is in your name, the only way he can report the car as stolen is if you have not payed the payments, and he has been notified by the bank that he is now responsible for the payments. If you are still making the payments, then he can't legally report the car as stolen. However, if you are letting someone drive who does not have a license, you are responsible for any damage that might happen if he gets in a wreck. The insurance will not pay when someone who is driving your car does not have a license. You would be responsible for any and all damages. You will be liable, and subject to a law suit, and liens against you and your property. If you live at home, your father could be held responsible for the damages since he is the co-signer. I think "your man" should not drive the car, and I am sure your father is trying to protect your best interest. He is going about it all wrong, and he can report the driver to the police. If they catch him driving without a license, your car will be towed and he will go to jail. Then you will have a tow charge to pay for, and "your man" will have to post bond. Work this out with your father, as I think he is really trying to watch out for you. Just don't let your man drive the car...after all you admit he does not have a license. This will hurt you in the long run, and your boyfriend will just have to let someone else do the driving until he gets his license back. One other thing....if your boyfriend has lost his license because of a DUI...they can fine you and charge you for letting him drive your car, especially since you have knowledge of his not having a license.
Let the police in your community know that your father has threatened to call the police and report the car as stolen, and then give them your tag number and copies of the paper work showing that you are the owner..not your father. At least you will have given them a heads up, and maybe you won't have problems. Just remember if the police catch your boyfriend driving without a license, your car will be towed(at your expense) and your boyfriend will go straight to jail for operating a vehicle without a license. Judges tend to frown on the people responsible for allowing this to happen. Be careful and be safe.

He could report it stolen, but it could get him into a lot of trouble for filing a false police report.

It will be a pain for you because it is illegal for you to let an unlicensed driver drive your car. You will most likely lose your insurance and your boyfriend will go to jail for driving without a license. If your bf gets into an accident your insurance will not cover the accident. Your dad is probably just trying to protect you and him from being sued.

If you let someone else drive your vehicle and they are unlicensed, or driving with a suspended or revoked license, your vehicle may be impounded for 30 days and possibly forfeited.

Anyone can report a car stolen, but in my past experience as a police officer, the officer should verify that the car is in fact stolen. If the car is in your name, you have to power to authorize anyone you wish to drive the car. Even if your father reported it stolen, and they catch your boyfriend driving it...he used it with your permission, but did not steal a car...so he would not be charged with theft or posession of stolen property. However, he would get charged with driving w/o a license or driving while license is suspended or revoked. You need to check up on your state laws and be careful...Georgia has a law that states you can not let someone drive your vehicle knowing that they are unlicensed, which you apparently know about your boyfriend. You could receive a citation/charge for allowing him to drive knowing that he doesn't have a valid license.

yes he can report it but he will be arrested for a false report as it wasn't stolen
your man will get a ticket for no license
if he were smart he would report you to your insurance company and they will pull your insurance Thain call the police and report you for driving without insurance and have the car impounded
Thain i would pull all my funding from you as far as schooling room and board etc

it may seam harsh to here it but if the guy crashes your car and you lent it to him and you knew he didn't have a license you and your dad will be sued it doesn't matter who is at fault in the wreck your man is responsible as he shouldn't have been driving in the first place and as you are irresponsible also he would end up paying the whole bill
your insurance will deny coverage and he wont pay up as he is irresponsible [or he wouldn't be driving]
if i were you i would apologies to your dad and grow up a little

If the car is registered in your father's name, then he can report it stolen. If your man is stopped in your car and is ticketed, he could be arrested and/or your car could be impounded. Even worse, if your man gets into an accident even if it is not his fault, the insurance might not cover the damage to your car and/or drop your coverage.

Yes, but he can get himself in trouble. If he reports the car stolen and knows that it is not, he is reporting false information. Also abuse of the system. Our criminal justice system is not intended to be used for personal agendas.
Let him report it, then let the police take care of the problem. He wont do it again.

I don't think so, but why would you let your man drive it w/o a license? That is just asking for trouble.
