I'm looking 4 several things out of this question. You see, I'm traveling from DC to Roseville, CA, at the beginning of Sept via Amtrak. I am taking the Capital Limited from DC to Chicago & then the California Zephyr from Chicago to Roseville. I don't have the $$$ to upgrade to a room, so I'm looking for any tips that you might have regarding what to take with me to make my trip a little easier.

1. What is the price range & quality of the food service on the trains?
2. Ideas on how to "freshen up"? What type of accomodations are there for Coach?
3. Entertainment - I've seen that there is entertainment on the trains. What kind is available?
4. What constitutes "carry on" luggage with Amtrak? Part of my trip includes Checked Baggage, but the longest leg (CHI to Roseville) doesn't offer this service.

Any help, info & ideas is greatly appreciated! I thought about Greyhound travel, but on this type of trip, I don't want to be cramped up on a small bus seat. LOL
Thanks!

I changed the front rotors, bearings, and brakes on my 2000 Chevy Astro, and now my abs light AND brake warning light stays on. The vehicle stops fine without pulling, the brakes feel good, the pedal is strong, and the abs brakes are obviously working because you can't "lock them up." The only thing I did to the sensors was wipe the old bearing grease off of them... I'm puzzled.

So I have a 86 mustang and my dad bought my 8.8 rear diff. So I took his 7.5 rear. I raced my car a few times and it broke. So I went to the junk yard and all I could find was another 7.5 It lasted 4 months with me smoking the tires every day and driving 100 miles a day to work. Its broke now too. I want my 8.8 back. So why are 7.5 so weak. Im stock engine with after market H pipe and flow masters. Performance air filter thats all.

Inside shoe was down to metal, left inside of rotor pretty bad! Outside pad on the other hand, looked to be roughly a month old! That is drivers side front tire! Passgr side not near as bad, but inside pad wore more than outside! Could it be the seals in the caliper or possibly a pressure prob??

Plenty of people say there are good reasons for owning suv's. Just as many others say there are no good reasons. If someone buys an suv and can pay for the gas, do they deserve to be insulted in today's society? Do sites like fuh2.com have a point? Do people really think that large suv drivers are disrespecting our military in Iraq? What are your thoughts on this subject?

In powerful rear wheel drive cars with Automatic transmission.
I have seen people reving the engine on D (Drive gear) while pressing the brakes so the rear wheels start spinning.
Lot's of smoke, lots of laughs, etc...

But why doesn't the brake stop the turning of rear wheels?
Does it mean they are heavily damaging the rear brakes???

Do they really press the brakes hard?
Can it be done on a Manual transmission car?

I have a manual transmission 98 Chevrolet cavalier. Recently I've had alot of problems with my car being sluggish (jerks, attempts to stall, usually I have to gun the gas to keep it going) when shifting gears. I've taken it to the repair shop twice now for the problem but it's still unresolved. On the first vist they performed a tune-up. Then the next visit visit they replaced an ignition cylinder. I'm just not sure I can afford to keep taking it back to the shop for repairs that don't actually fix the problem? Any suggestions on what might be the cause of the problem?

I am flying alone non-stop (4-hour domestic) with my daughter who will be 2 months old during the time of the flight. She will be a lap-baby, so I need to check her carseat as she will be using it to and from the airports. (I will be using a sling carrier while walking through the airport with her.) I know if there are extra seats on the plane, I can put her in her carseat on the plane, but I need to plan to have it checked.

1. Can I check the carseat as baggage?
2. What's the best way to do it- put in inside a bag, box it, or leave it how it is?
3. Any other useful information you can think of???
