I am flying alone non-stop (4-hour domestic) with my daughter who will be 2 months old during the time of the flight. She will be a lap-baby, so I need to check her carseat as she will be using it to and from the airports. (I will be using a sling carrier while walking through the airport with her.) I know if there are extra seats on the plane, I can put her in her carseat on the plane, but I need to plan to have it checked.

1. Can I check the carseat as baggage?
2. What's the best way to do it- put in inside a bag, box it, or leave it how it is?
3. Any other useful information you can think of???

Yeah, you can check a carseat as baggage; we've done it before. You can just check it as is, but I'd put it in a box so you don't run the risk of the fabric getting something on it or torn up.

we put it inside a duffel bag, but the steward said we could just put a tag on it and make sure all the clips were snapped. I think it depends on the airline.

yes, its been done before.

just check the car seat in at the airlines counter with your other bags and they will put a tag around it, maybe put it in a bag and you will be good to go

Your usually allowed 2 carry-ons so you might be able to carry it,otherwise just make sure it is tagged clearly like your other luggage.
