I had a baby this year and my mom came from Europe for over six months to help me out with care for my baby after my baby was 6 weeks old that I could go to work.

Of course I didn't pay her anything but my mom's airplane ticket and food cost me a lot of money.

Plus from time to time I asked occasional babysitter to watch for my kid. My mom has no SSN and I didn't get any paper from students that from time to time watch for my kid.

Clear is that I worked and my baby wasn't unattended and It cost me money from my income.

Can I claim anything as a expenses for childcare per your opinion?

After searching the net this morning and not finding what I'm looking for, decided to venture over here, see if there is someone who can give me a bonafide answer, not some trivial whoop-de-do answer.

As has been written elsewhere, two things in life are not deniable: Death and Taxes. While Death is true, Taxes is a bit vague, to a point. I'm looking for a listing of incidental taxes paid by anyone/everyone who purchases anything, uses anything, whatever. I'm already aware of income, property, telephone, etc. taxes, but do y'all know you also pay a tax to have your clothes professionally cleaned?

So, what say you? Can anyone give me a brief and to-the-point list of incidental taxes which are "hidden" in the daily goings on in life?

Oh, yeah, one other thing: I'm asking about US taxes, not foreign countries.

Thanks, and I wish for you a great day!

I received a 1099c for this tax year and I am liable for 7Gs to the IRS. It is not a convenient year for me. Can I postpone this life event?

I haven't made but $8,000 for this year (for a host of reasons, mostly due to illness) and was wondering if I even have to file having made so little.

What do I do?

I worked a company last year for about 5 weeks.
I had to quit because they were not 100% legit.
I have not received W-2's from them and when I called the phone number, it was disconnected.
I misplaced my check stubs cause I had to take them to court.
Is there a way I can call the IRS or social security to find out my earnings and deductions.

Hey there folks,

This may seem like a silly question.... I am just afraid of being wrong on my taxes.

I have always used turbotax and have always done my texes myself... this year was much more diificult. I have quite a few changes so it may be common. I bought a 2nd home, and spent quite a bit of $$ fixing my original home to get it ready to be a rental (finally rented it out in January 2007). So I have two mortgages. Two properties with real estate taxes and lots of interest paid.

I also started a side business out of my home office
on top of my normal everyday job, that had significant upfront investment costs for machinery, computer and software, ending up only drawing a profit of $30 for the year, after all the start up costs.

Turbo Tax shows that I should be getting about $10,000 back, which doesn't sound right, but i have never had so many write off's either. Wondering is this uncommon?

I worked one day for a company last year; they take your pictures sitting in a vehicle, simulating an accident, and I received $150.00 (without tax) for it. I asked the agency that sent me to do this job, they will not send me W2 form because I did not make more tahn $600.00 with them. Do I need to declare this (150.00) as a part of my income? If so, what form should I use?

My question concerns only a fully deductible IRA, and the confusion over the IRS wording "to quality....you must not be eligible to participate in a company retirement plan". My company does not offer a pension plan , but does offer a 401k plan, so does that disqualify me from a deductible IRA ? Basically the question comes down to the defination of a "company retirement plan".

My daughters live with me all year except for 8 weeks in the summer, and he claimes one of my daughters. It would make a big difference in my refund if I claimed her. He had it done up in the divorce papers that he will always get to claim her. I was very young then, and thought that was the way everyone did it. It does not seem right for him to be able to do that since I am the one who takes care of them all year long, and he doesnt even see them but once a year, because he lives 2000 miles a way ( his choice) and I am the one that makes sure they have everything they need and want, and all he has to do throughout the year is write a check and sed it..........which is the bare minimum that he has to anyway. I could so a lot for my girls with that extra money!! What can I do??
