The Educator Expense deduction actually expired on Jan 1st 2006. Congress extended this for the 2006 Tax year, but it was reinstated after the Tax forms went to press. It can only be claimed on the 1040 for tax year 2005

If you are using Turbo Tax or another software package, the program will accommodate your expense. If you are paper filing, there is no where on the 1040A Form to input the deduction. You have to use the 1040 form and enter the amount on line 23. On the dotted line to the left of the entry you put down an E. That line is labeled Archer MSA deduction. If you should have an Archer deduction and a teacher deduction you add the two and instead of writing an E you write a B on the dotted line next to the entry.
