I'm thinking about developing a small organization that offers training to educators online. I'm leaning towards non-profit so that I can pursue grant funding and expand the project further, but am concerned about the paperwork and costs involved. Which is simplest and most manageable? Do you pay taxes on all income received or only the profit leftover after salaries have been paid. Any feedback is of great help.

I have a BA in Spanish, but I'm still not fluent in it. I really don't have many skills. I don't even know what to do. Someone on here suggested I become self-employed since I have trouble finding a job.

I wouldn't consider myself a speed typer, but I can type pretty fast. the only problem is I am not too great when it comes to proper punctuation and grammar. I am not going to lie about it, so is there a way or site, that can help me with that, and something that easy to comprehend. I am eager to learn, but I have no clue as to go about it, and no idea where to start. Has anyone on here done that or is working from there home, or have a home based business. I would not mind having a business from my home, but how do you make money from having your own website, and is there a way to create a website of your own for free. I have no idea how websites make there money. I need some advice on what, where, how to get started. Thanks.

Hello,
I do some computer work as JB Consulting, although I never really registered the business name nor do I have a bank account under that name. I ask all my clients to make their checks out to Joe Blow instead of JB Consulting. One of my clients just sent a check made out to JB Consulting. Can I alter the payee on the check with (Joe Blow)? How much 'trouble' can I get into? Will the bank accept a check made out to JB Consulting (Joe Blow) to my Joe Blow account? This client is always late paying me (this one is for 3 months work even though I bill monthly) otherwise I would just ask him to make out another check.
TIA

It seems that most of the places one turns to for business financing from different investment sources, there' s a minimum
of 100K anyone is willing to invest.
How can a small business of 1-2 individuals, that presently has under $20,000 per year revenue get a investment loan-preferably angel investment for under $50,000?
And for art-specialized business (art gallery, art studio, supplies sales, etc....)--in Bothell, WA?

I sell make up and other products at my local flea market. I now have seen that ever since I started selling there's a lot more competition with vendors selling very similar items as mine. I offer lower prices while still make a small profit in order to gain customers. I have my regular customers the problem is that I have this customer who buys ALOT of make up products from me "to send it to her sisters in Mexico" But since she buys a lot she always expects for me to give her a discount. Last time she came I gave her a big discount. I appreciate that she buys a lot from me but I can't afford to give her big discount since I am already selling at the lowest price. I feel like I am" too nice" or dumb, lol. How can I tell her nicely that I can't just give her discounts on everything she buys when she is always persuading me too. Alot of customer do and I'm thetype of person who can't say no.

I had this man give me a business card with a business name and when I contracted a job with him, the contract says llc at the end of the business name. I am having to take him to small claims for violation of a contract (he has no license) but on the contracts that were written up the business name appears with an llc. at the end.

I'm sending a large envelope with charts in it. The charts way about 2lbs. and are about 2-3 inches thick. I know I have to put a priority label on the envelope, but do I just use the regular .41 cent stamps for the correct postage? I think it says on the usps website that it will be like 4.60, but is that all I do? I'm really stupid when it comes to postage, it's so pathetic!

And what do I do about sales tax for in-state purchases? Can someone who has experience tell me what I need and where to get it done?
Thanks!

I'm starting a small business online and many of my wholesalers want to fax documents. I don't want to have to get a landline just to get the couple of faxes that in all reality can and should be sent via email. Does anyone know of an online service that offers to convert faxes to email for you and give you a "fax number" for a small fee? Thanks.
