While it is possible to start your own business working out of your home, don't expect to sit around in your jammies and have thousands of dollars just roll in.

Most of the "opportunities" are some kind of scam. Ignore all those big bucks, real easy, no experience offers. There all rips offs. They just take up front money.

There are tons of multi level marketing schemes. It isn't product that you sell, it signing others up and selling motivational sales materials.

My brother laid out about $5K to start a business. He spent a couple months thoroughly researching the concept to make sure there was a real customer base. He check 3 or 4 different distributors, making careful comparison of what type of equipment, training, pricing, etc. He even had video tapes from several different companies -- drove me crazy making me watch them.

He then got out and drummed up business. He advertised, set up a website, joined organizations, worked out referral deals with related businesses. 5 years later, he isn't bringing in millions but he lives quite comfortably (bought and remodeled a house) and works on his own schedule.

The moral of the story is that if you do your homework, and put effort into it, you can be your own boss, but don't expect to get rich overnight.

You have to find something that you are already interested in. Something that excites you! It might be a companies products, owners,compensation plan, ways to make an income. I urge you to look at all of this and check with the BBB before making a decision. Great Question.. and as you may have already found out, there is just too many companies out there.

I too was looking for a way to supplement my income so after careful researching I decided to join a company called Global Domains International.
