Small Business - September 2007

How do you correctly show a montly cost for biweekly payroll? For example, we had 3 pay "days" in August: 8/2, 8/16 & 8/30. However, the pay periods for these dates were: 7/16-7/29, 7/30-8/12, 8/13-8/26. Do I need to make some kind of adjustment to apply 16 of those paid days into July? This will show our payroll as being high 2 months out of the year because of the extra pay week (26 periods instead of 2 per month at 24), and with a newer business I would thing it would be more critical to be a little more accurate. Any suggestions?

Im donating a Kustom Kar which I built, to be auctioned for a charity, I have heard Im only obligated to give the charity 30% of the sale price. I have looked on the net and cant seem to get the exact legal rules other then a bunch of tax stuff. I am a small biz. owner and am doing theis for 2 reasons, the charity and I need to sell this kar, because I need to put it back into my biz, which is building kustom kars.

I am opening a hobby shop that includes comics, anime/manga, and buy and sell video games. As well as the typical paints and models, RC vehicles and rpgs. I 'm not sure however how to find suppliers for the models and rpgs and RC vehicles. Please help I'm located in southern Ontario Canada. Even though I have read and read about how to open your own business, I am still very confused as to what the steps are.
I know I need to open an account with the SBA. I know I need to register the name with my state. I know I need a tax id or EIN # (is there a difference between the 2).

What is the first thing I would need to do? How much would it cost my business to do all this?
To be more specific, me and my partner are working together as photographers and we would like to make it legal. We don't have a set location, as we work on the location the client chooses.
Please if you have any information you can provide, I would really appreciate it.
And please refrain from looking this online and give me links. I need real information from people who know what they're talking about.

I have an employee that was out side working in our yard and was changing from his work boots back into his tennis shoes. Something was in his shoe and bit/stung him and his foot is now swolen and the site is tender. We sent him to the doctor, but do not know if this is a "work related incident".

Hello everyone. I had a question about working at home. I currently have a full time job but want to make some extra money working at home. I was looking around and there seems to be some opportunities but I don't know if they are legit. Can anyone who is actually working at home making money let me know of some real opportunities. I had a bad experience once with letter mailing, etc. However, recently, I saw one regarding doing surveys and getting paid for it. Is this legit? It seems way to good to be true. Within the next few weeks I will release a self publish book. Some of the books will be sold by myself at fairs and some will be sold by bookshops. The book has a cover price of £17.99, at what price should I offer it to bookshops. I know they can be a bit fly and don`t want to give away any more profit than I have to. i have posted a mobile phone for sale on ebay but is on a 3 day auction i recieved an email from someone in nigeria saying they have paid me some money wen they havent even bid on it or won the item,then i get an email from paypal saying tis person has paid me and i need to post the item and get a tracking number before the funds will be released into my account what the hell is going on is this a scam??

I just started a new job where I will be in charge of using quickbooks. The girl who is currently working here has no standard procedures. I need to know, what is done the minute you receive an invoice. What is the best way to keep track of these invoices being paid. When she enters them, she just stacks them on a manilla folder and leaves them there. Is there a better way of doing this. Please help

I live in Oregon and I enjoy doing numerology, astrology, tarot and psychometry for others. Unfortunately, a lot of people have abused my free help and so I'm thinking about changing a small fee. (like, $5 or arrange a trade for something, I'm not looking to get rich! lol)

I live in Texas and am thinking about starting my own office cleaning and apartment make ready service. For apartment I would paint, change fixtures and minor replairs.
