I already have a tax ID number, but I want to know what other stuff I need to have in order to be legit for my business. I've heard something about a resellers permit? And what do I do about sales tax for in-state purchases? Can someone who has experience tell me what I need and where to get it done?

You do need to have a reseller's permit if you plan to sell to final users (as opposed to businesses that buy your product for further processing or for use in their operations). You also need to assess, report, and pay sales taxes on in-state purchases. Since you forgot to mention which state you're in, there's really no way to tell you where to get it done; you need to apply to whatever agency that deals with sales taxes in your state...
