I'm sending a large envelope with charts in it. The charts way about 2lbs. and are about 2-3 inches thick. I know I have to put a priority label on the envelope, but do I just use the regular .41 cent stamps for the correct postage? I think it says on the usps website that it will be like 4.60, but is that all I do? I'm really stupid when it comes to postage, it's so pathetic!

If the usps website says 4.60 then it should be okay. You can put the priority sticker on it. There is no difference in how it is mailed between 1st class and priority. All priority does is show the receiver that it was sent with a little extra love and care. The package is sent within the same time frame as 1st class which is 2-3 days. But you should be okay with that postage and just the label should be fine. I worked in a mailroom for nearly 6 years.

If you need to be paid in advance, take the whole thing in to the post office (unsealed) and ask them to weigh it for you. Not only are you paying for higher rates now that everything went up, you also pay for DISTANCE traveled so it may be different than what you think it'll come to.

The post office does have a calculation site online if you know the weight of the package down to the last ounce. I used to use it all the time till the rates change so haven't given the new updated site a try, but here it is.

postage is postage. As long as you cover the correct dollar amount it doesn;t really matter what value stamps you use.
