A developer wants to buy our house, but it is attached to the other house. If we don't sell, they threaten to tear down the house that they bought from the other owner of the house.

I am wondering if the laws differ in every state? Also, how long does one have to come up with the rent before an eviction notice is served? I don't have 2 nickels to rub together and the new month is coming soon.

Can 2 people live off of $12,000 a year taking the following expenses into account:

Rent: $365-450/month
Utilities: $85-125/month
Gas & Car Ins: $230/month
Food/groceries: $200/month
Health Insurance: $150/month
Other Expenses: ????/month

The people are my dad and his dead beat brother. They are both 40 something and don't care about living conditions. Can this work? They only make $500/month each after taxes. Any suggestions on how they could make this work out or get more money?

If I go into foreclosure and the house doesn't sell in full and a judgement is entered against me--can they garnish my wages?

Will I be able to rent a place with a foreclosure on my credit?

The new tax law that the president is kicking around, will that help those of us that end up going into foreclosure?

My state does give the lender the right to go after me for a definciancy judgement--will they and if so what can they do to me financially?

The lender has agreed to a short sale, so if the house sells they will send me a 1099 for the difference--will that be covered through the new tax laws?

I left the apartment completely clean. Even got a crew to vaccum and wipe the place. Yet I got charged $100 for carpet, $150 for repaint tub, $150 replace faucet. Also one time I called the landlord to fix the sink that was clogged and not working properly...now he charges $45 for garbage disposal labor. Wht da hell!?! Out of 1700.00 he took out 781.00. Help?

A bank has approved our offer for a short sale of a home in pre-foreclosure. The current owner of the property has told us he will only move forward with settlement if he can have two months free rent back while he finds someplace to go. If it came down to it, and I accepted this offer, to what lengths could the current owner extend his stay beyond those two months--through filing bankruptcies, or other legal means that could prevent me from moving forward with an eviction? Clearly, I am not going to move forward unless I KNOW that I can control when he vacates the property. How long could he potentially "squat", once I settle on the house, before I could have him evicted? Again--for you legal experts out there--this is in the state of Virginia.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it does, but I want to check before I go to court for my first eviction complaint. Statement in my lease agreement: "In the event of any breach of this agreement by the tenant, the Lessor shall have the right and authority, without the giving of further notice to terminate the rights of a tenant under this lease and to pursue such other rights and remedies as the Lessor may have". I just want to check before I start the process since I don't want to have to start over.

-thanks

We just put an offer in on a home that we fell in love with after looking for one for about six months now. The owners accepted our offer right away. They have moved to Canada and had their daughter living there for a while with her kid(s). They had offered the house to their daughter to buy but she thought that they should just give it to her and refused to buy it so the owners put it on the market with a realtor. So that is the story up until our offer. Now we just found out that the daughter is mad that her parents are selling and she told them she would disown them and never talk to them again if they sold it to us. The parents have decided to sell to her at half the price we were offering now because of her threats. I am so mad!!! What can we do legally to get this house because we really want it and were sort of already planning our move, plus they accepted our offer while it was on the market! I live in Grand Rapids Michigan if that helps anyone find out the laws for me. Thanks!

Hello -- I was wondering if anyone knew of any Health Dept Code or Regulations that state how far away a garbage bin/dumpster should be next to a tenant's property - in my case - my brand new car. A new tenant decided she did not want to park in her assigned spot where the dumpster has been sitting for the past few years, so she moved it over to my side (whole other issue!). I don't feel anyone should have to park near this kind of filth. Can anyone give any details on your garbage bin location if you live in a big apartment building? Thank you!!
