I like suburbs when I have to work since I have much more chance at a good job nearby.
When I retire I want to live rural so I can have deer and elk to watch in my yard.

Hi!
Well, I'm from the UK and I love to live in big cities!
I spent the last 4 years as a student at a University in Birmingham, which is the UK's second city. And I am just about to move back there with my boyfriend, which is great!
I love city life because there is so much of a buzz and everything is right there when you want it - shops, bars, clubs, restaurants, etc. My boyfriend has lived in Surrey (south of London) for most of his life and the areas he has lived in have been more quiet, semi-rural areas with little in the way of nightlife. He is now also bored of this and seeks the excitement of a big city!
Having said that, city life can have its negatives. For example, England's capital city, London, is not for everyone. Some people absolutely love the buzz and the people - but others just find it too polluted, too crowded, too noisy, etc. Personally, I find London a very impersonal city - nobody seems to smile, people tend to be rude and pushy because they have places to go; people to see, etc. Not to say that all Londoners are pushy and rude, of course :-)
But it's interesting that every foreign person I have met has told me that they much prefer Birmingham to London because they find it a friendlier place to live; yet it still has all the buzz and facilities of England's capital city, London.
Maybe when I'm a few years older than 23 I'll want to settle down in the quiet suburbs... but for now I'm happy to shop, eat, drink and party!! ;-)
xx Emmie

I prefer to live in the big cities. Because living in a big city gives me much more chances to develop my career than in a rural area. And the services in the cities are better, so they make me feel more comfortable.

I live in a city =(
I don't really like living in the city.
I would prefer to live in the country in a converted barn house.
I prefer it because it is so peaceful, no cars zooming round all hours, less pollution and 97% of the time, a lot more safer.

I used to live in Lisbon (Portugal) and now live in Scotland in the country side and love it.
Maybe I was fed up of the stress from the city or maybe it's just like human race is "Never happy with what you have" which is good as well to like to change.
Can't wait for the answers good question, have a star.

My preference now is The City, I like close places to shop, and dine-out. I think that when I am older maybe the quiet town. I currently live in Cali but I would like to stay here when I'm older just change towns......

I used to prefer living in the country, but as you get older, you want less yard to mow and take care of. Plus, gasoline prices are so high, it is nice living in town.
