I just sold my home (it took 2 weeks and 5 days, yay!) and the buyers requested $4,000 back at closing, which I agreed to since they are paying a little bit more than my original asking price. My husband and I are looking at this foreclosed home. Can we ask for cash back at closing from a bank or do banks not make such deals?

3 days before the close date, the lab test showed there were slightly elevated levels of mold in the house. I have a baby, and know that mold can be a big pain in the butt to get rid of, not to mention the health risks. The house has not been lived in, but was instead bought as a fixer-upper, and totally redone. The home inspector said the new roof, drainage, siding, and everything have kept even the smallest drop of moisture from both the attic, and the basement. Yet, he spotted some moisture behind the dining room and living room walls. He has no idea how these damp areas got there. The appeal of this house is that it WAS so livable and ready for us to move into as a starter home. Now, with the health risks and the hassel of fixing a potential mold problem, this house wouldn't be as easy to sell. We might consider the bigger home where we could settle for good, even though the bigger home would be pushing out budget's limit. Would you walk away from this house or go with it?

I am wondering what happens to the original owner of a house that was repossessed by a bank. What if he doesn't want to leave? Is the police called in to throw him out?

I am looking into buying a house repoed by a bank. However, I have some misgivings about it. My main concerns are with any unrepaired damages that the owners couldn't pay for. Other concern is the former owners. Maybe they'll have a beef against the new owner?

I had paid my landlord my rent with a money order for the month of June. On the 19th I received a receipt from him saying he was in receipt of my money order. Then two days later I received a notice that I didnt pay rent and that I would face legal action if I didnt pay. I asked the landlord about the issue and he said he made a mistake and the receipt was for a neighbor (despite the fact it had my name and address printed on the company letterhead. Now I am going to court for it and facing eviction for non payment. My question is can my landlord prevail in the eviction if he declares on his own company letterhead he was in receipt of my rent? Everything so far I have seen points to no but I just wanted to get feedback about the issue from anyone who has had this happen to them before. Thanks for the advice!!

I am planning on leaving my job for another after the 13 of July but we are in the middle of buying a home and I don't want to give the mortgage loan officers a reason to question if we can afford it ( WE CAN). Can I put in my resignation now to give two weeks notice or should I wait until after we close in case the mortgage people check my status. Do they do that?

my dad is putting up some fencing in our yard, and while the holes for the fence poles where being dug we accidentally cut a cable.

the next day Comcast comes to us saying we just cut the cable that connected our neighborhood. so they took out one of our fence poles to reconnect the cable and said the were gonna send us a bill

CAN THEY DO THAT????

its my yard and i want to put up some fences. besides i had no idea that cables would be berried in my yard by some company.

wouldn't this be like me berrying a satellite dish in the yard then sell that house and charging the new home owner for disrupting my dish???

We have been engaged for 2 yrs and he just got out of debt and has some extra money now.I want to put money away for a house/wedding(both of us) but instead he keeps buying expensive stuff(drums/car stuff/guns) that total over 3k with no signs of stoping. He knows i have my share of the money for the house/wedding but he will not put any away himself(he wants to buy a house too).I can't help but think he expects me to put the whole down payment on the house. When i have talked to him about it he says he will put his share of the wedding on a c.c but what about the down payment on a house?I think now that his debt is cleared up and he has extra money some of it should go in the bank to pay for these things rather than buying expensive toys.

My husband and I have a first mortgage with a 6.5% arm that will start adjusting up in September. We have a second mortgage at 10.5% that is fixed. The total balance is around $455,000.

We have two refinancing options on the plate right now:

1) Our credit union can refinance our first mortgage at 7.5% fixed for 30 years, but not the second mortgage (They don’t do mortgages that big). It will increase our monthly payment by $300 to $400/month and the new mortgage will be in both of our names. We can handle the increase without a problem.

2) A Mortgage company will refinance BOTH mortgages into 1 mortgage at 7.5% and our payments would stay the same, BUT the mortgage would be in my name only because his FICO score is mid 500’s and mine is around 715. He makes twice the money I make, so they would put his score first if he was on the loan, too. It would be a no-doc mortgage, so they would not know my income, which is half of his.

Any down sides to Option 2? I'm worried.

Because I really want to move out of my house with a close friend. Please tell me what age do they accept... I was hoping that I could move out when I finish graduating which is in 3 years because i'm going into grade 10. When I graduate I will be about 17, and my friend will be 18. Do you think that my 18 year old friend could apply for it, because she's 18, and then I will live with her because i'm only 17.

♥Thanks♥

My boyfriend and I just bought a house (110K lien), and his parents will be moving in with us, in a garage-converted apartment. Parents are selling thier house for $80k to my boyfriend's older sister. Since they are close to 80 and have no other assests, we are trying to invest legally but avoid capital gains. Should that 80k be paid on our house and add the parents to the title, or should the deed to the original house be passed as a "gift" to the sister and sister pay mom & pop under the table? Or should the 80k be split between all 7 of mom & pop's children as an inheritance (even though both are alive, they do not have a will). Let me know what options exist.

We asked for a 6 month lease- They told us flatout that they did not offer anything but 12 month leases. While living there, we found out that more then a few residents had 6 month leases(some who had moved in before us and some after)We believe we were not offered that because we were young, not married and expecting our first child(these are private land lords who's main work is preaching)We knew we were being discriminated against.
We had to break our lease at 6 months(boyfriend got a job in a different city 2 hours away)They let us out of the lease and initially told us we could have our deposit back. They had our apartment rented out already and told us to be out 5 days before the date we told them we would. So we left and kept trying to contact them about getting the deposit back. Two months passed and they never cashed the check from the last months rent, but I had to close my account- there were none of those banks here.So we assumed the deposit was covering the last months rent
