I'm the first time home buyer with under 20% to put down on a house. I make about $70,000 annually (before tax). I have no debt at all , my car is paid off in full and I'm a single parent with one son. I'm looking for a house which I hope won't bring too much finance pressure on me and which should also be easy to sale later.

I am looking into getting a grant for the down payment on a home and I was wondering if anyone has done this and how much they received, was it 20% of the purchase price? What factors are used to determine how much you will get? What can you tell me about this issue?

I bought a house about year and 6 months ago and i'm thinking about selling it and buy another house in another state. I heard that if you sell your house before 2 years, you have to pay lot of taxes. My question is if you buy another house right after you sell it, do you still have to pay lot of taxes? and how much is lot??? Would it be best to hold the house for 2 years and then sell it??

How long of a credit history do you need to establish to be considered for a home loan? There is no bad credit history, just haven't established credit with anyone.

I was recently evicted from my apartment but I don't know if it will show under my name when I go apply for a new place. My friend told me that once it gets tied up in the court system it doesn't show on your credit report for a long time. I'm hoping to get a new place soon but I need to know whether or not to put my last landlord where I was evicted or if I should just put my address previous to that which is in a another city.

Okay, I know that buying a home is a great idea. But I have some questions concerning it. Here is my scenerio: My husband and I live in the Houston, Texas area. Our lease is up in a month and a half. We really want to move at that time into a place that has at least two bedrooms and a garage (apartment or house). We really want to buy a home BUT, at this time we can't afford the home we want. Our annual income is approximately 50,000.00, and our fixed monthly expenses before rent are approximately 1081.00. I have a lot of bad credit, including outstanding and charged off debt. My husband has fairly good credit, probably in the high 600s.
What I want to know is: Is it even worth trying to get a home? If so should we try to buy new or used? And, if we buy one and we want to sell it in a few years is that really a good idea? Also, we aren't exactly in the positiong to do major repairs on a house, will that effect us? People keep saying to buy a house, are they right?

I've been frustrating myself trying to find a new apartment and a lot of places tell me they don't rent to college students. I guess because I'm a full time student and only have a part time job, I don't know, but with my part time job and my student loan income, I meet the income requirements. What's the deal? Is this fair?

One apartment complex I applied to came back declined because he said I had "major credit issues", and another place I applied to said my credit came back "perfect". So, I applied at a 3rd place, what should I expect, and how can the two reports be at such opposite extremes? Or were they just lying to me?

My husband and I are thinking about moving from our current apartments to a larger one. We found a really good deal on some apartments that are just a few more minutes away from our work, have an extra bedroom, and a garage. However, the apartments attract trashy people because of the low costs. My husband and I desperately need more space, and while we want to buy a house, we want to wait until we clear up our debt (will take about a year). So, in your opinion do you think it is worth living around trashy/ghetto people to have the plusses listed above? Any advice would be appreciated.

I've heard two answers. One, if it's in the lease agreement, then you must pay.
But then I see that there has been case law that clarifies a statute which prohibits late fees. (See link below) Which is it??? And have I been screwed?
