I am looking to buy 6 acres and the lady wants 15000, and tax appraisal says it is worth 33000. I know it is worth way more than 15000 but how accurate is the tax appraisal here in Texas. It will be appraised soon I am just wondering what to expect.

I have spoken to the tenant a month ago and he has agreed to send post dated cheques. To-date, the cheques have not been received.

A house that a friend of mine used to live in is for sale and my friend and i want to buy it. we want to remodle it and this house is a duplex, but if we buy the whole thing we can turn it into a house. we don't want to change it at all upstairs becuz that's where he used to live. i was wondering if you thought if it would be weird for a house to have a kitchen on the second floor and the first floor would be a large family/game room with 1 bedroom? there's 3 upstairs.

>a suggestion was made that we keep or remodle the kitchen downstairs and use the kitchen upstairs as a laundry room but we don't wanna do that.
>of course there would also be a bathroom on the first floor and
second.

HI we recently got our electric bill and it is 3 times from the normal, its 350, for 2 months, is usually 150. Our hot water leaks and the landlord is taking forever to fix it, nobody really knows whats wrong, I have to boil water everyday for a bath! The hot water lasts about 2 mintues if even. Well we asked if they can deduct some of the electric bill from our rent and they keep saying we will get back to you soon. What can we do, small claims? I am so tired of this.

I still live with my folks but am saving for my first house together with my partner.... Only problem is, house prices seem to be rising much faster than we can save! I dont know too much about the property market, but it seems like we've missed the boat, like we'll never get on the property ladder - or we will JUST make it, and then the prices will crash! Anyone have any predicitons or words of advice? Will the market crash, and if so, when?!?

I rented a room at this lady's house. I gave her 1 month rent as deposit upfront. We're going month by month, no lease. I gave my notice earlier this month that I'll be moving out Jan 1 so she can look for a new roommate. Last week, we get into an argument about her son staying over and invade my space and she literally kick me out. I then asked her for refund on my rent since I already paid for this month but only live there 2 weeks along with my deposit back. She then said that I can stay until the end of the month because she has no money to refund me back and we'll talk about the deposit later. Well, I found a place I can move in immediately, but I also need to put down a month deposit. I told her I don't care about the refund of the rent anymore but I need my deposit back to put it down in my new place then I'll move out right away, she said she has no money & not going to have it until she found a new roommate & that person give her their deposit… What could I do?

We are buying a new home out of state and it won't be ready until March but I want to get the ball rolling and start getting the word out there that my house will be for rent. Should we start advertising now and just let people know it won't be ready until some time in March or the 1st of April?

My roommate and I signed a 12-month lease together, but now she needs to move out for financial reasons. I can't afford it by myself (my salary alone doesn't qualify for the minimum required by management). Her idea was to get out of the lease and find someone else to sign on. I've been trying to contact the management company to see if this is do-able, but haven't had any luck. I know the best thing to do would be to talk to them, but until then, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this and could tell me what I'm in for. Will I be charged? Will I have to sign a new lease with a new roommate? Will they let her off the lease without my consent? So much stress I just did not need! Thanks for your help!

In the newspaper read an ad on a house $695 a month clean for deposit, I went and looked at the house and well the walls are disgusting, they clearly had roaches, the window is broken, the guttering is falling off the back of the house, there are cabinets missing in the kitchen, it needs to be totally repainted, there are 3-5 holes in the walls, the fence needs to be repaired, the house is just really really dirty. Would it be unreasonable to ask for 2 months free, no deposit, and $600 a month? I am pretty sure it is a house that was either a HUD house or was bought from a grant. (they have about 15 houses that I know of)

I have a fixed term lease on a house in Long Beach, California. 6 months left on the lease. Out of the blue, landlord is attemping to sell the house ASAP (we have never missed a payment or anything). He has already listed it with a real estate agency, and Agents / prospective buyers are coming by daily with or without our permission, even if we are not home (realtor was given a key without our knowledge). There is now a big, annoying For Sale sign in the front lawn, including a hole in the lawn that it is placed in. What are my rights? FInding suitable housing in Long Beach during the school year is nearly impossible.

If your realtor contacts the listing agent for the seller with a low offer....do they have to present or can they just say they won't present to the seller? I thought legally they were just brokers and had to present all offers to the seller.....no matter what.

I have recently slipt with my fiance and we own a flat together. Because we moved with work this flat is currently being let out. If we sell it we will be lucky to break even, should I buy him out of his share as I intend to live in this area? I am living with my parents at the moment and could continue to rent it out for the time being untill I get some money together and I am afraid I will not be able to buy somewhere on my own in future and will have to rent if I move out (which I would like to do!) but this would be a waste of money. The other thing is I would like to travel - would owning this place prevent that? I suppose I could keep it rented. Help!!! I am only 26, so I could buy later but I need some impartial advice.... should I cut lose or keep the investment?

My sink is leaky and has flooded my apartment twice now, and only one of the burners on my stove works. There are also mice in my apartment every once in a while. My landlord ignores me when I ask her to fix my sink and stove, but yells at me when she has to come drain the sink because it starts dripping into the apartment underneath me. At what point can I get the problems fixed myself and take the cost off my rent?
