Just married w/a little girl. We want to settle in a home of our own and maybe expand our family. We need more room to grow for the future. We both work extremely hard but still struggle on how we can own a decent home w/ out spending an arm and a leg. We are afraid of being jacked around and make a huge mistake. We are old fashioned and weren't born into money. We need advice.

Hi all. I'm looking to buy a house that is about 70 years old. It has a finished basement, and one of the pipes from the radiator system is wrapped in asbestos insulation. In general, it seems to be in good condition; however, there is one spot (a few inches wide) that has been cut or is frayed. From everything I've read, asbestos is generally more dangerous if it's removed as it can make airborne the fibers which can then be inhaled and cause cancer in 5-30 years. However, I'm not sure (1) if this is dangerous (2) if the current home owners have been living in a dangerous situation (3) if it makes sense to invest in this house without doing any asbestos removal or, at the least, repair. I spoke with a few companies today, and got an estimate of 1000-1500 for removal of the asbestos.

Is this dangerous?
Is there a way to work "dealing" with the asbestos in the contract?
Am crazy for considering this place?
Am I crazy for thinking the asbestos on the pipe is this serious?
Help!

My wife and I found a great place that we love and we really want out of our apartment. We found this place on a foreclosure website, but every website that we've looked at has a fee just to look at the details of this house. So does anyone know what we need to do to get this house? Do we talk to a realtor? Do they take care of the bidding and what not? Do we get preapproved for a mortgage first?

Any help would be appreciated.

My family may be moving there. Tell me where I should look to rent an apartment or home since I have two small kids. If you have any other tips, they are welcome too (such as good restaurants, good stores, etc.)

I know it varies, but is there a rough estimate? Especially when there is a big variance between the assessed value and the asking price?

Just let go of our listing agent due to lack of marketing and poor communication skills. Considering selling our house ourselves. When you do this is there a way to put it on the MLS? Also we were thinking that if we list and put a 5% commision for the buyers agent instead of paying a 6% split between the buyers agent and sellers agent.
I have heard that 95% of houses sold were not through the sellers agent.
Any ideas???

I have 43 acres of Commercial-Tourist land along a major US Interstate in Oregon. We see 93,000 people drive by every day and the area's population is growing exponentially. It is directly off a highway exit with water and electricity and would be perfect for development. How would I connect with the right people to show them the acreage and get their feedback? This plot would be perfect for an outlet mall, hotel, or any other place of business that values a high traffic volume. Thanks for your help!

The person in question has immigration issues pending so she wants to something to show that she has an interest in the land since she has been paying the mortgage but she doesn't want to show up on "title". Will a contract for the home protect her if no deed is recorded under here name?

I bought some acreage with an old mobile. When I bought the place I asked if it was in the flood plain. They said no. Now I'm finding this place has been flooded. I bought this over a year ago. I did have an inspection, and he didn't mention anything about this. Do I have any recourse?

My mother recently made an offer on an apartment building. While the deposit was in the mail, she stopped payment on the check and alerted her agent to cancel the offer. Well, the other party still wants to force my mother to keep the offer.

There's one problem: My mother's agent signed a document absolving her agent of liability.

Question: How does my mother get out of this one scott-free? I understand what she is trying to do is a bit, well, illegal; so there is no need to lecture me.

I received a letter from my landlady on 1st Dec 06 saying she was willing to offer me another 6 month tenancy beginning on 22nd Dec 06 but she was raising the rent to £550pcm. I was just wondering if she was allowed to do this. Help much appreciated.
