I am in the process of buying a condo (it is a condo conversion), and we just found out (right before closing) that there are some liens on the whole development not the unit, that the developer doesn't want to take care of and the management company doesn't think they should pay. So as it stands I can't close on the property until these liens are taken care of. What can I do?

My husband and I bought our house in April. We want to try to refinance. Our mortgage broker told us that the contract locked us in for two years. Does that mean that we can't refinance or even sell? We have looked at the house papers and we don't understand it.

I hope someone can help me with this!! My grandparents leased my 2 bedroom apartment. So, their names are listed as the lease holders and I am listed as an occupant. They have never lived at the apartment. They helped me out at a time that I need the help and did this favor for me. This was 2 years ago. I have never, not even one time been late in paying the rent. I am now looking to move and would like to apply by myself. The problem is I have no rental history. Or do I. Would my current situation be considered as if I sublet the apartment from my grandparents? When I go and apply to with another apartment complex should I list them as the “landlord” along with the actual management company? How should I go about this?

I recently moved out and the landlord has called threatening to have me arrested for destruction of property if I don't call him back within an hour! Can he do that? Can he give me an ultimatum like that? ( I was at work so I couldn't answer my cell phone. I took a chance of getting in trouble so I could listen to the message he left!) Can you be arrested for destruction of property in a situation like this?

In the property there are two strip shopping centers and land and 4 houses, one worth close to a million and the other about 1/2 million and the other two around 200,000 each. Should I take cash and allimony or 50 percent of property and alimony. I thought I would keep theproperty 5 years and then sell and move into one of the smaller homes. Which do you think would be the smart way to go. I am 60 years old in good health, but I am concerned about my future and do not want to make a mistake. I am leaning towards the property, but some of the family are leaning the other way. Any suggestions.?

I have two choices to move into a place:
300bucks, I have to switch trains to get to work, no internet, in a dodgy neighbourhood, share with 2 guys (I'm a girl)
562 bucks, I don't have to switch trains to get to work, internet access available, in a genteel neighbourhood, share with 2 girls.

Which would you choose! Honest serious answers please, and why!
