The prices will still go down or up for 2007?

Not the greatest - older, needed a little cleaning, kind of ugly - but in great location n kids wont need to change schools. When I went to sign the lease yesterday, I noticed a few things that needed to be fixed. There were a few broken windows that the landlord said he had already ordered replacements for and some of the old tenants stuff was still there. I also noticed a dead roach behind the wallpaper in the kitchen. I told him of my EXTREME bug phobia and that I will NOT live with bugs. He assured me that the place was exterminated and was clean and bug free. Well, today when we went to move our stuff, there were roaches (dead and alive) everywhere, and roach droppings (which I previously thought was just dirt, as I had never had roaches before). He told me that he was gonna clean the place today, but I don't see how he can do it proplerly in 1 day and without running water or electric. I just want it done properly or my deposit money back. What do you think?

I was wondering if someone can guide me in the proper form to buy for a Lis Pendens action I want to take against a home owner who will not return my deposit after I received a denial for my mortgage. It clearly states that it is refundabe but it is being withheld. The sellers said it took too long to notify them and are not returning my deposit. It should be noted that they were notified right after we were notified. I live in the State of New York. Any help regarding the proper form to use and form# would be appreciated.
Thank You.

Looking to buy a house. Found one we really like but I'm having trouble getting past the water tower. It's about two blocks away and has the town's name written on the side. For some reason, it really bugs me. Maybe I'm being too picky. You tell me!

I would buy the place, I just have to move and I can't find anything out there, i ran into this place and its wonderful, although it is run down and needs help, but I would be willing to do that and pay the taxes. I know that you don't get something for nothing these days.

My roommate gave her 30-day notice (Oct 22nd) to move out of my house, but still has her property in her room. A new month has started & gone. Is it legal for me to still have her pay rent when she is not (physically) living there?

I am selling a house in CA. After the lazy buyer removed the contigency (days after the agreed date), I am now facing a different issue. The house is set to close on Monday according to the signed contract. Apparently no one on his side (agent, buyer, whatever) is aware of this date. I called the utilities and they told me no one called to turn on service on the house. When my agent finally got a hold of someone on his side, he was like 'oh, Monday? It will be OK." I lost all my trust on this deal; the Title company hasn't received any paperwork for the buyer.

What's my right here? Don't I have the right to know when the closing date is? Or am I stuck because I need to sell? If I break the contract because he broke the agreement, do I get to keep his deposit?

Anyone had a similar issue before? I wonder what he is thinking?

The builder was in default on a New Home Contract. The builder agreed to the return of earnest money to the Buyer. The buyer's mortgage broker then sent the bill for the appraisal ($325), and an additional appraisal fee ($100) to the title company for payment from earnest money. When the Buyer consulted with an attorney, the Buyer was informed that they were not responsible for the appraisal since no closing took place and the Buyer was not in default. In this case, who pays for the appraisal???

I'm planning to attend school in Manhattan next year and was curious what I can expect the cost of living to be, and tips to cut costs. I'm probably going to try and find someone to share an apartment with, or just get a studio apt., what could I expect rent to be, with utilities and such? Also, just general things that I'll need for living in the city (i.e., subway passes) Are there any websites that would be helpful?
