For years I've been hearing that LIC is next to boom. However, I sometimes feel like it's never going to happen. I think it all depends on how long you plan to stay and what your goals are. Given the sheer volume of factories/industrial stuff, I think a huge spike up could be still quite awhile away. If you have found something that's residential enough and close to transportation - now might be the time to jump in. Good luck!

As a native New Yorker, I am familar with LIC. They are converting old warehouses to lofts. It's a good buy if the price is right. LIC is close to NYC which is always a good thing.
